People laughed at me when I suggested to new vapers to hold onto their spent coil heads in case they ever decided to rebuild or the manufacturer stopped making the model.
The thing is I am not sure this is going to accomplish what the companies are trying to do. I can see people who rebuild protank heads moving on to actual rba and RBD devices rather than going back to disposable vaping.
It's funny you should say that. Ironically I have been collecting coils faster than I use them. I bought 2 mini protanks, so I had 4 heads, bought 3 5-packs of replacement heads...now 19. Then retired the mini protanks to backup and purchased 3 mini protanks and had 25 heads. Long story short, I have 24 heads as spares.
Just last week, I threw away one, and then had second thoughts. I took it out of the trash, boiled it in water for 15 minutes and put it aside.
I have Kanthal and wick coming on Monday. I'm a little nervous about what the FDA must do so I'm turning into a bit of a doomsday prepper when it comes to my vape gear.
I'm going to try to recoil a head next week to see if I can do it. If that is successful, my next step is to purchase a high quality mod with replaceable batteries, like a provari, so that if the FDA limits e-cig batteries, I'll have a mod that uses an actual standard LiIon battery that they can't regulate since they are used in other applications.
Now to learn how to mix my own e-juice. I'm already cutting back to zero nic juice to save myself from the tobacco user surcharge with my insurance company and I figure PG, VG and flavorings should be pretty easy to buy since they have other uses outside of the vaping industry.
I refuse to be at the mercy of Big Tobacco and their proprietary systems to get my vape on.....
