Are the mini protanks 2 ok?

Hello, im a fellow vaper in some struggle, asking this cause i want to buy one or two and get started into rebuilding. I currently have an itaste vv3 kit, and like the battery but the iclears havent been performing very good. After 2 months using them tho, i got them to work decent in a constant basis.

I heard some people say the protanks are not good enough, that they flood and gurgle and what not, but they also said they are better than the iclear 16s. Mine currently work ok, no floods, no tilting needed, no dry hits (2.2Ohm @ 3.3-3.8 volts, only way they work) but i can only have mouth to lung inhales, cause if not i may get dry hits, which isnt satifying enough given that i want to try direct lung inhales to produce more vapor.

The juices i've been using are a brand called smokingvapor, idk if they're top of the line, but it is the best i have found localy (Mexico). I have no clue what the pg-vg levels are on those.

So i have two main questions:
1-How do the protanks heads work vs iclear16s (after what u've read based on my experience)
2-How easy and effective is the rebuilding on a protank head (micro coil).

Basicaly the iclears, after some first time struggles, work fine for me, with a decent and constant performance with some downsides ofc, but i just need to know if it gets better than this, vapor and flavor wise (i have not tried any premium juices, sure as hell want to). Also i dont like hard throat hits, been vaping zero nic.

Thanks all for your attention and keep on vaping! :vapor:

between here and there
Hello and welcome to ecf.

I haven't had a moments problems with the protank. I also have the I clear 16. The difference between the two are
The iclear 16 and iclear 30 have the coils and wicks on the top of the tank assembly. As you know, you unscrew the mouth piece to fill the tank.
The Protank has them on the bottom near the base where you screw them into the battery. With these, it is the bottom that you unscrew and fill so you are holding it upside down to do so. Need to be careful not to unscrew the top piece while doing this.

You can buy replacement heads for both of these. Don't think they are re-buildable.

Get some quality eliquid and you can find vaping very satisfying. Most vendors will list on their sites if they ship to other countries.

Click on the forum supplier link at the top of every page of this forum. This will take you to vendors that most of the members here use. It lists links to their websites and also to their forums here on ecf.

Good luck. Glad to have you here.

I have been rebuilding the protank heads and the evod head with no problem, am currently doing micro coils with cotton and its the best i have had so far for this type of clearo. I have no experience with the i clears, but if they are similar to the viva novas top coils then you should be able to rebuild those too as i used to rebuild the viva nova heads.if you dont like hard throat hits stick with bottom coil devices as the hits are cooler compared to top coil units.

Hope this helps! Good Luck!

I highly recommend the Mini-Protank 2s. I haven't had any issues with flooding/gurgling. Also, because it's a bottom coil device, dry hits aren't very common. The stock coils that come with it do tend to give off a weird burnt taste after a tank or so, however (I have yet to figure out why! That's my biggest gripe about the tank). But if you want to get into rebuilding, the Mini-Protank is a great way to go. I just recently started rebuilding. I have two Mini-Protanks that I rebuild coils for. I use one piece of 3mm silica wick, and 6 wraps of 32gauge kanthal wire. It works perfectly, and usually produces about a 2.2 ohm coil. Also, for some reason, after a rebuild, the burnt taste disappears, and doesn't return until after quite a few tanks (unlike the stock coils). Also, after rebuilding a coil, I do a dry burn and then dab the coils with a damp q-tip or paper towel. This seems to remove the weird taste you get the first few drags with a new coil. Also, remember to prime the coil by adding a bit of eLiquid to the coils before closing it back up and putting it on the tank.
Rebuilding is actually fairly easy, and saves a fair bit of cash! Good luck!
