I tried a smok carto tank and I have a Youde tank that I can't remember the name of. In terms of flavor, they were always better than, say, a standard Protank/iClear type setup. I'm not so sure that holds true to the next gen clearos such as the Aerotank Mega, but it's been months since I last used a carto.

But there was nothing about them that I find more convenient then a well built RTA such as a Kayfun. The learning curve is greater, of course, but once you have a well built coil, it can literally last for months. Once, maybe twice a weak, a quick dry burn and re-wick and you're good to go. I have that process down to about 5 minutes including disassembly, 10 minutes if I'm feeling froggy and want a new coil.

Clearo's aren't that easy.

Must be a question of perspective and practice then. Ive been using carto tanks for so long I can fill and prime one in under 2 minutes, Refilling is even quicker.

hey everyone.
for the past year or so i haven't really been keeping up with all the latest atomizing units. i've been relying on carto tanks for the past 2 years or so. i've only upgraded to the u-dct style tanks from smoktech rather than the earlier style tanks where you'd have two removable caps.
i noticed a few months ago my regular hardware retailer had been sold out of certain resistances of the propriety cartos for smoktech tanks. usually they are pretty good with stocking in a timely fashion so i sent them an email asking why it was taking them so long to stock up. i got a reply saying that they are not bought very frequently so they don't stock them anymore.
...? even the year previous they had a limit on how many 5-packs you could buy. i am noticing other retailers turning their backs on cartos in general.
after rba's and clearomizers i had some people tell me cartos were losing favor, but i find that hard to believe. there are so many vapers out there i highly doubt ALL OF YOU GUYS are using clearomizers or rba's.

starting to get a little twitchy thinking this time next year i might have to have an atomizer that i hate. the issue with clearomizers for me as a vaper who commutes by bus and foot during winters where temperatures are often -20C- -30C (-4F- -22) or colder is that they do not vape as well as carto tanks by far.

who else still uses carto tanks?

I love my smok UDCT! But I don't use dual-coil cartos, can't stand 'em. If I can buy a lot and they have them in stock, I get the single-coil XL cartos with 2 holes, 3 ohm, at IBtanked; if they're not in stock (which happens way too often) then I get them from LJ's Esmokes, for $1.52 each, and they're real Smoktechs.

Best price I've seen on Smok cartotanks is Vapor Kings; they have all the Smok cartotanks for $6 each.

Me too...! I can prime and fill a carto & tank in like 2 minutes. It's currently taking me about 1/2 hour to tear down, rinse, dry burn, rewick and fill my Kayfun! I know i'll get faster at it but I can't see it ever being as easy as replacing a carto.

I had to go "back" to cartos because

----I have found all the coils for clearo-tanks to be horrible (and I'm not going to rebuild little itsy bitsy things like that, if I am going to rebuild then I'll just get a real RBA)

And leaky and airy, too. Plus, the prices on some of these clearos lately are almost or the same as what some of us have paid for an actual PV in the past.

I do vape high VG but not sugary stuff, but I don't mind tossing out a carto .... they are cheap enough.

I just got 6 carto tanks on the big auction site....they're made by VapeRev. I got them in these lots of vape items (drip tips, etc.), and even if I threw all the other stuff out, the tanks would work out to be $5.17/ea. They're 22mm dia. with 2.5mm thick glass, silver kinda blasted caps, with tall and short glass tubes and an extra set of o-rings each. Really nice! Now I'm just on a hunt for cheap cartomizers. It was fun getting a good deal on these, and trying out something new is great. I love having all kinds of tanks filled with different flavors to switch up.

Like many have already posted, I was a cartotank loyalist until I got into RBAs that I now use exclusively. One of the reasons RBAs appealed to me was because it's so easy to source resistance wire and wick instead of hunting for the best price of cartomizers in my preferred resistance. I stockpiled a bunch of cartomizers and sold them all when I made the switch. My first RBAs were submersible atomizers so I kept buying IBTanked tubes and caps. I haven't used them in a while, but I still have a bunch of clear 19mm and 22mm tanks collecting dust. I experienced problems using bottom-fed atomizers on certain mods so I now focus on atomizers with independent side airflow like the KFL and drippers. Like Baditude said, back then to me there was nothing better than vaping out of a fresh cartomizer. Now, there's nothing better to me than vaping out of a clean microcoil and atomizer with a fresh cotton wick. It's easy and inexpensive to dry burn and re-wick so I tend to do it every few days (no more than three tanks worth unless I feel lazy). I was less inclined to change cartomizers due to the cost.

Hey zapped! Long time no see.

Carto tanks were my primary use for a while and just got tired of the quality not being on point. Switched to RBA (RTA) and not missing them much. Still have some cartomizers in my stock, but haven't loaded one in more than 4-5 months.

I really enjoy building coils and using silica or cotton, cheaper and just a better more reliable vape hands down. I also was having a reaction I think to the filler material. Haven't touched them since.

wow. it's nice to see so much solidarity. I have an aga-t and the udi that is a genesis/dripping atomizer. I am intrigued in the kayfun after this thread, I got cold feet w the other two I have. it would be nice to just rely on my own building. I would have to be better at planning though BC as some of you have stated it takes me way less than 5 mins to clean a tank and set it up.

I'm still using carto-tanks most of the time. I haven't had enough practice on RBAs yet. So, not sure how that's going to turn out.

The only other thing I use semi-regularly is old-fashioned atomizers (306, 510, 510-t, 901, and 801). I rarely use clearos or plain cartos without a tank.

Naw, everyone jumped on the cloud chasing train. Cartos and tanks are old news. It's all about the RDA'S and quad coil builds now.

If you wanna fit in, you gotta get a mech mod and blow dem cloudz.

Sarcasm.

I've never fit in anywhere, and don't expect to start at my present advanced age. :D I could give a rip less about "cloudz"! I do love my KFL+ tanks, it's hard to beat 'em, but I do love my Smok UDCT and single-coil high-ohm cartos, saves the heck out of battery life!

I didn't start vaping to be a "kool kid", but to quit smoking the easy way.

Mine is high-PG, but pretty dark and sweet, but I get about a week per carto -- $1.50 a week vs. $5.50 a DAY for cigarettes... there's a bargain and a half! :thumb:

You're old school, though. You're that lady that all the kids on the block like, cause she bakes cookies for them and doesn't get mad when the ball comes in your yard.

Actually, they do like me, because I talk to them as if they're actual human beings, instead of ......ed midgets. But sometimes I do get mad about kids or objects trampling my yard, though it depends on the exact location of the trampling -- if they get in my flower beds, they're gonna get an earful, and if they're not properly contrite, a nice little chat with their mom. :) I didn't do any gardening this year, was too busy quitting smoking, starting vaping (obsessing might be a better word ;) ), and basically living at ECF. :D And oh yeah, having appendicitis and recuperating from that! But next year, I'll be back to my horticultural ways. :D

Another IBTanked fan here. I have 4. I love a fresh carto in a tank, I can't stand cartos outside of a tank. I use Evods a couple of times a week too, mostly when I'm fishing. I've have a couple of RDAs, but for me a carto tank is just easier. Plus, I don't have to worry about it being on its side either.
