are these real sony vtc5s?

my friend claims these are rewrapped vtc4's cuz of the sticker

the vendor i bought it from claims, the sticker varies depending on the reseller, it does not come from sony

Agreed. batteries pass hands between the manufacturer and possibly several re-sellers before they finally reach the end user. Somewhere along the way, that white sticker is placed as an identification sticker for shippers to know what kind of battery it is for safety purposes.

From what I can see from the pics you took, I see no obvious signs that these are counterfeit Sony batteries.

It has to be done but not necessarily on each cell. I have received vtc5s heatshrinked into larger packs, then that pack had a sticker on it.

It is a requirement for shipping cells by air internationally because there are limits on the size of cell that can be shipped (due to fire/explosion concerns).

You really have to trust your local B&M or whatever website you use. If you don't, don't shop there...
