If you bought Samsung, Sony, LG, or Panasonic/Sanyo batteries then they probably came with stickers covering up the printing the manufacturer put on the battery wrap.

These stickers are added by the reseller/distributor, not the battery manufacturer, and is done to comply with shipping regulations. But these stickers keep us from verifying what batteries we actually have and interfere with checking their authenticity, a growing concern.

More than once a battery has had the wrong sticker put on it. There are at least four pink 18650's, two browns, four reds, four blues, etc.

Taking off the sticker means you can verify that you got the battery you paid for. It's also the first thing we'll ask you to do if you have any questions about, or problems with, your battery.

So don't hesitate to remove those stickers!

I just pulled off the silver sticker on one of my LG HG2's from RTDVapor and below is what's under the sticker. Looks legit.

I did the same with a black battery I got from another vendor and can't read anything on the black wrap. It's probably under the wrap, printed on the casing.

That's the first thing I do when new batteries arrive! I hate those little stickers! (It's an OCD thing. I like them to be uniform)

Yeah, it would be informative if they actually printed the brand and type instead of just basic type and MAH info. I guess that's what the FAA and DOT people want to see.

Any tips for removing them because when I try they always rip into 50 tiny shreads of paper and leave an awfull sticky layer on the cells.

    Thanks for the heads-up @Mooch

For the paper ones you have to go slowwwwwww, very slow. Never let it tear. If it does, and there are bits left over, try rolling them off with lots of finger pressure. Alcohol works well but can remove the printing.
