Are V4L carts really any different from other KR808D-1's?

If you do go and refill them properly they last WAY WAY longer than a few minutes, at least an hour and that's vaping non stop playing my video game using the passthrough that sucks them dry fast :p
And Leeshor I like the slight harshness, that's why 24mg works perfect for me. I used to roll my own so I don't want a smoother hit :p

I have been on ultra lights for the last 22 years. Can't even come close to 24mg. Even 11 can be a little much for me at times. And I used to smoke some of the strogest analogs available.

I've grown weak in my old age.

10 drops? Those must be BIG drops!!!

That's is a great point. Not all drops contain the same amount of liquid unless you use the same dispensing device.

When someone says they used 28 drops you need to find out the size of the opening they used. Pipette drops are going to be different from eyedropper drops.

Well, now that I've got you talking about nicotine levels, perhaps you can answer this question:

On the V4L site, the choices for the GreenCig Western carts are: "Low", "Medium", and "High." What is that in milligrams?

Like leeshor, I'm an 11mg man (and for the same reasons).

Continuing thanks!

Ok, I've not uploaded Images before so Hopefully this works out. Apologies as this is the crappiest digital camera money can buy, no flash, etc. as my good camera is busted at the moment :p

But hey, lots of people have asked and I *think* you can at least mostly ascertain what you are wanting from these. Let me know if there is something in particular you want.

EDIT: These are pictures of the Greencig cartomizer. showing the inner cartridge, how it comes out, and finally the cap, empty cartridge, filler, and atty/container all together.
I will update with a KR808D Cartomizer here in a little while so you can compare them. I just wanted to get this up asap as it was getting to be the center of attention.

Take care,
- Hap

Greencig is actually a little low Key, if I am not mistaken "High" is only 15mg - I am not sure if they do Med and Low and what they are if so.

No it is not. Post has been edited accordingly. Still working on the pictures for the KR cartoz - this is just a really crappy camera, and I am having to take 5 or 6 pics to get 1 decent one, then filter and crop them. I will post the KR808 pics asap. Reasons and descriptions are now in the post.

Take care,

Please do not apologize for those photos! This is excellent ... and much appreciated. Thank you.

What kind of tool is that, which you used to pry off the cap and pull out the cart and filler? And where can it be obtained?

Ok take a look at kc0cmp's video to see the detailed disassembly, innards, and reassembly of a standard KR808D cartomizer:

YouTube - How-to guide to refilling KR808D-1 or Vapor King cartomizers

Sorry, but my camera is just too darn dark to get a picture to come out of the inside. the thing to note on the differences here is that the filler material in there is wrapped directly around an interior heat resistant wrap, wrapped around a wick, wrapped around the atty coil. It is NOT an easy feat to try to replace this and even if you do there is no replacement process I know of yet to do it in such a way as to not burn your new material within just a few puffs :\

Take care all,
- Hap

Let me preface my question (although I guess I spilled the beans in the title ) with some background and with a reassurance about the good faith in which I ask my question:

My first e-cig (four months ago) was a KR808D-1. I liked the simplicity of the cartomizer concept, but I didn't like the taste ... and I found the mouthpiece/cart/atomizer uncomfortable hot. [I have since discovered that I strongly prefer tobacco-type flavors over the coffee, cola, and red bull carts I tried along with tobacco back then, so that might have been a factor with the taste issue.] And (since this was before I discovered how to refill a cartomizer) I plowed through carts (and my wallet) faster than I did with analogs. So I moved on to the penstyle and then the Prodigy (not cheap, but a long-term investment).

Those (and a variety of tasty juices) have kept me pretty happy for the past three months, but I've been feeling restless recently and want to try something "new" and perhaps a bit shorter.* I gave some real consideration to the 510 and M401, but I wasn't bowled over by what I've read.

In contrast, I am wowed by that V4L extra long manual battery* (in a sense, it's a VP1 for only $25). I thought I'd pair it with the GreenCig carts Steve also sells; they're supposed to be milder and with great vapor. For example, Leaford is gaga for the GreenCig (under whatever brand name).

* Yes, I realize that, with this battery, the Vapor King is not short. For some reason, its length in mm is a tightly guarded secret;), but someone here said it was about 5 1/2 inches (assembled). My DSE801 is 6 1/8 inches and my Prodigy is even longer (and, of course, a lot fatter). So it would be a bit shorter for me.

Further good faith reassurance: I'm the guy who said this about V4L in the Wonderful World of Vapor guide:
  • Vapor4Life: Their Vapor King brand name is the best known for the KR808D-1. And wow, I see they now also sell a manual battery version – a first for this model!...[Then I showed a photo of it in various colors.]
But the reason I single them out is that they represented us (the vaping community) so well in an NBC evening news story, when we really needed it: the day the FDA report came out. I’ve read commendations of their contribution from even their competitors.

So ... I'm certainly not anti-V4L, right?

However, in that same guide of mine, I point out that I am cheap. As you may know, Vapor King cartomizers are not the least expensive KR808D-1 carts out there.

Finally, my question: I know that Steve's choices of flavors are far greater than any other supplier, but for the same flavor, are V4L cartomizers really any different from other KR808D-1 carts?

If they really are (no hyperbole please), I'll bite the bullet and try them (either instead of or in addition to the GreenCig carts Steve also sells).

Thanks for putting up with my long-winded saga and considering my question!

From my hands on personal experience of last week, i can confirm that hilton and camel carts from another supplier did not meaure up to Steve's. the hilton i was able to do a direct compare..and the camel well Steve doesn't have camel atm..but for whatever reason, those cheapo blisterpack carts were fugly as hell and im glad theyre gone..left a bad taste in my mouth and i couldnt find my chihuahua fast enough so i could lick her .... and get that taste out of my mouth....they tasted dusty?..hard to describe...like they were old as my mother in law. Steve's hilton tastes like a light cig..which was what i was aiming for. The camel was concentrated dung, with a dash of ....

those blister pack carts also didnt have the right filler..looked like rolled up paper towel..no kidding. refills werent working like i had hoped, and i scorched one...ive yet to scorch a V4L cart..has to be a design difference i didnt even abuse it with the passthrough lol.

I've grown weak in my old age.

"What about the lower tar and nicotine numbers on light and ultra-light cigarette packs and in ads for these products?

These numbers come from smoking machines, which “smoke” every brand of cigarettes exactly the same way.

These numbers do not really tell how much tar and nicotine a particular smoker may get because people do not smoke cigarettes the same way the machines do. And no two people smoke the same way.

How do light cigarettes trick the smoking machines?

Tobacco companies designed light cigarettes with tiny pinholes on the filters. These “filter vents” dilute cigarette smoke with air when light cigarettes are “puffed” on by smoking machines, causing the machines to measure artificially low tar and nicotine levels.

Many smokers do not know that their cigarette filters have vent holes. The filter vents are uncovered when cigarettes are smoked on smoking machines. However, filter vents are placed just millimeters from where smokers put their lips or fingers when smoking. As a result, many smokers block the vents—which actually turns the light cigarette into a regular cigarette.

Some cigarette makers increased the length of the paper wrap covering the outside of the cigarette filter, which decreases the number of puffs that occur during the machine test. Although tobacco under the wrap is still available to the smoker, this tobacco is not burned during the machine test. The result is that the machine measures less tar and nicotine levels than is available to the smoker." The Truth About "Light" Cigarettes: Q & A - National Cancer Institute

I'm not saying you can't/don't get less nic from lights and ultras, but I used to smoke 'em too, and there were many times when I'd draw a lot harder or even intentionally cover the vent holes to get stronger drags. And some people will subconsiously compensate with their drags, depending on what they're smoking.

Just got my kit last week. After refilling both V4L and generic KR's, there is clearly more filler (polyfil?) in the V4l carts then standard KR's. It also appears that it may be a bit denser, though that is uncertain. This combined with V4L's own juice mixes probably account for the superior performance from V4l's carts out of the box. After refilling one of each with the same juice, they appear to vape the same to me, at least on the first fill, but the V4L's hold more between refills. The element seems to be the same in both, but I'm sure Steve could provide more details on any differences, such as different guage wire, extra wraps, etc. Although he may not want to divulge the info .
Steve:
from the same factory.. then what exactly is the difference? Is there one? If so what IS it?

I thought Dekang Stopped making 36mg carts? If that is true.. how are you still getting them?
I am really curious because I ALSO preffer the green cig carts over the KR808's. Will you be getting a shipment of the NEW Green Cig carts?

What you said is true, up to a point. Different tobaccos have different amounts of tar and nic. In the states they don't list those amounts like they did in the past although I understand that in some countries they still do. The figures are all relative.

No matter how the machines tested the tobacco if it said 1 brand was 1.1 nic and another was 3.2 the second was higher even if the information wasn't accurate.

With very few exceptions the amounts of tar and nic were controlled, (in the old days) by the amounts of the different tobaccos being used. These days they may have artificially spiked the end product. I remember back in the 60s smoking some cigarettes that didn't do anything for me and others that would kill the average human being. :p

Hey guys, Apologies in advance if this is the wrong section for this topic, but this is about the third time I've ever posted anywhere so please, bear with me until I figure this out!
I just stumbled upon this thread while I was actually wondering where I was going to buy my next e-cig and I was looking at a couple dif places that sells the kr808d-1. One site is nhaler and the other is V4L. Now, being a girl and all that comes with that *hehe*, I thought that the choices v4l had in different types of kits, flavors and of course, color choices of... Well. Everything! kind of sold me hands down, ESP. the colors of the carts and selection of flavors.
So, my opinion is that even though he might cost a little more overall, I think it all evens out in quality. I am a firm believer in "ya get what ya pay for!" and have only heard absolutely great things about him and Vapor4Life. I can't WAIT to order the Ultimate Ultimatum KR808d-1 Kit. Now I just have to figure out the flavors I want, just wish he showed the cart colors on ALL the flavors... =(

We all seem to think it is worth it! ;) I myself prefer the manual batteries which no other vendor has at this time - so a no brainer for me!

JenJen,
I just ordered the extra long manual battery this morning, thanks to all your great comments about it. :D I have never tried a manual battery before, but from what you say it sounds like my kinda vape. If I like it, should I get the manual passthrough also? is it much better than my auto passthrough? (which I absolutely love!!!!!!!!!!)

Try the manual extra long first and if you find you like the manual battery better, you will definately love the manual pt better then the auto pt! ;)

This is the order of my preferred device in order of preference - manual pt, extra long manual, regular manual, auto pt, auto regular. Obviously, I prefer the manuals but there are a few that do prefer the autos... Like taste it is kind of subjective to each person, but I am betting you will LOVE it! :)
