Mom was put in the ICU unit, not because she needed to be there but because they had no beds! We are taking about a tiny hospital. Mom's Mrsa is back so she has to be in isolation. 2 of my cousins have been up to see her and my daughter and her 2 boys. My son will be here in the morning and another cousin on Friday. It's been a busy week! It's nice to have some time with family and be able to stay home while they go up. (2 people at a time for an hour max.)
Today when I went up it was to find her in what they call PCU, primary care. It's a regular room, but she has it to herself. They were so worried about dehydration that they pumped her full of I.V. drips. Now she is swollen and her kidney's are not working well. Her BP is still very low. She isn't very responsive right now. Yesterday with the cousins, she was all smiles and chatty. They were upset when they got back here because Mom kept forgetting their names. She was also saying that one of my cousin gained so much weight..it was a nurse, not my cousin! She told my grandson how much he had grown, she asked me a loud whisper, why a 10 year old had a beard (he is trying to grow one at 16!). Sometimes it's kind of funny, sometimes it's just too sad.
I stopped by the Nursing Home to see if they had found a housedress that was missing (I don't care, but they asked me to check on it as they have a checklist!) her two nurses there came up to me and asked how mom was. I thought that was nice.

Glad to here your family is there. It's hard when the mind slips. My maternal grandma forgot that my mom has always been freckled, it upset her so much. I been back home to be able to see her since her mind started slipping and I am so worried that she'll pass away before we get back home, I know that when she goes my grandpa won't be far behind.

Yes, They seem to go in pairs when they both really elderly. Grandma out lived Grandpa by 30 years, but he died at 62 and she died at 90.

The other day when my cousin visited, she brought Mom a clock that gives the time in big digital numbers and the day and date in smaller ones. Mom is obsessed by the day and date. She must ask 20 times a day what day it is. That was when mom was in ICU. Now the clock is missing. It was in her drawer(still in the box, but opened) and when they moved her..it didn't go with her. I know they use a clock much like it around the hospital in places like the ER. I reported it to the Nurses in both units and to security. My next step is the admin. This ticks me off big time! We will look doesn't get it..look or find the damn thief! I am not letting this go this time! My cousin will be all over it..maybe I will turn her loose on them! She is could teach super B**ch's lesson's.

She was released back to the Nursing home. The Hospice nurse came to see me and I turned her down until I can figure something out with the nursing home admin. She has been out sick for a week.
I was so mad I seriously thought about bringing mom home..then mom started yelling (in a very tiny yell as she doesn't have any volume left) That I needed to take better care of her. I remembered why she isn't here..she would drive me crazy! She seems to regard me as her body slave.

Mike flatly said NO! I have to go back to my Dr. next week because my heart is skipping beats (really it's doubling up and then pausing). Stress will do that. It's a weird feeling, like your heart has slipped down in your chest for a second. I likened it to riding a rollercoaster. You know how your stomach drops? Like that. I am not worried about it, that's the least of my worries right now.

I feel like Walrus when he said that diabtes is the least of his problems. I am done whining for now. It's been a rough day!
Oh Yeah, I asked her Nurse to give mom some ice cream, watery jello or juice..just a taste. She said Mom couldn't have any because she would get it in her lungs. I told her "So what? Her right lung is full of the ensure you give her through her feeding tube anyway. She's dying and hasn't tasted anything for a month. Just do it or I will. " She said she would ask the dietician.

I figure she swallows her own spit..why not flavor it..what, she might get MORE pnuemonia or MORE stuff in her lungs? She might get hooked on it..die of taste? Geeze. She chokes on everything now. One more nice flavored one can't hurt.I didn't ask for a steak dinner or a cigarette..but it's not out of the question if I get p. o. I had Mike bring me wine coolers and Playgirl one time in the hospital..just to make the nurses mad.
