So, I'm fairly new to vaping and find the internet to be a horrible place to learn.
If a online vape store were to explain vaping better, they would make millions.
For starters, don't make up words. Every time I try to find information, it seems there is an entire new language on the internet.
Don't call things by dumb names like mod, then use that word to name different pieces. ... is a mod? I've determined mod is short for modification, which would have been in the early days a modification to a prebuilt cigarette looking e cig. Your big flashlight looking thing is not a mod, and you definitely shouldn't point to the battery holder call it a mod, then point to the tank and also call it a mod. No one knows what your saying.

Now there's something called a clone, which I take to be a fancy name some website can use to sell me a Chinese knockoff of a good rba rda auto clearo carto sausage double knee breaker cloud chasing machine. See, that random string of words makes as much sense as whatever the interent community is talking about.

Bottom line, If you want vaping support from government and outside agencies MAKE IT SIMPLE TO UNDERSTAND AND FOLLOW.

Hello and welcome to the forum. Glad to have you here!:)

If you are interested in learning more about e-cigarettes (and all the parts and pieces) below are some blog posts by ECF member Baditude that I highly recommend for someone new to vaping and/or looking to upgrade.

1. A Good Starter's Setup for a Beginning Vapor
2. Advancing Up the Vaping Ladder with Egos and Mods
3. Proper terminology - Is it a carto, a tank, or what? A Guide to Juice Attachments.
4. Something Safe for Cinnamon and Citrus Flavors

And here are a few more links on "vaping terminology".

1. A – Z E-Cig Glossary
2. e-Cigarette Jargon and Terms – eCig 101
3. Vaping Glossary - what does it all mean?
4. ECF Abbreviations 101

#4 is very handy when trying to decipher ECF members slang.

You're right OP person! I apologize for using words you can't be bothered to learn (I promise to refrain from ever posting "pangolin" on the forum again). I do not have a mod, I have a Personal Electronic Nicotine Inhalation System, which I bet is bigger than yours.

A mod in the classical definition used to refer to a flashlight, laser pointer, plastic box or other device designed for another purpose that was modified for use as an e-cigarette.

These became so popular that some people and companies began producing similar items produced specifically as e-cigarettes, these are more properly described as PV or Personal Vaporizers. In actually the two terms get used interchangeably too often to rely on the real definitions.

Regarding the toppers, many of the designs in use today began as homebuilt "mods" also. Most are referred to as tanks, cartomizers (carto), clearomizers (clearo), atomizers (attys) , RDA (rebuildable dripping atomizer) or RTA (rebuildable tank atomizer)
The toppers names seem to change with every new development in design, mostly for advertising purposes.

p.s. Welcome to ECF...:toast:

LOL I agree with you so much dude. I still don't know what a mod is or a clearomizer or a cloudablowinsupersmokerabilizindabooble. It is confusing. But it does get easier in time. :)

This is a (type of) clearomizer:

the point i am making is there is no other industry/hobbie/past time, whatever, that involves this much research and a secret decoder ring to know what is going on. Take anything else you do in your personal life, look at the vocabulary used. its simplified and uniform between vendors, manufactures, and users. vaping seems to be an elitist society of people who are "too cool" to form a common set of terms and maintain it between all parties involved. as the example i used, which no one explained so my guess is most dont know and are too high on the horse to admit is the clone. call it aftermarket or knockoff. dont call it clone. thats just a cute word for "I'm ripping you off". if that is what a clone is.
okay, so you dont want government support, but you also dont want them telling you what to do. End result, government favors the loud, squeaky wheel. For the most part that is people who can afford it. They see vaping as smoking, we know its not, but they dont. By forming a uniform community, you remove the secrecy from vaping. The easier it is to become part of the community, the more support you gain. Thus releaving the pressure on vaping by parties that dont understand it.
