So, I'm fairly new to vaping and find the internet to be a horrible place to learn.
If a online vape store were to explain vaping better, they would make millions.
For starters, don't make up words. Every time I try to find information, it seems there is an entire new language on the internet.
Don't call things by dumb names like mod, then use that word to name different pieces. ... is a mod? I've determined mod is short for modification, which would have been in the early days a modification to a prebuilt cigarette looking e cig. Your big flashlight looking thing is not a mod, and you definitely shouldn't point to the battery holder call it a mod, then point to the tank and also call it a mod. No one knows what your saying.

Now there's something called a clone, which I take to be a fancy name some website can use to sell me a Chinese knockoff of a good rba rda auto clearo carto sausage double knee breaker cloud chasing machine. See, that random string of words makes as much sense as whatever the interent community is talking about.

Bottom line, If you want vaping support from government and outside agencies MAKE IT SIMPLE TO UNDERSTAND AND FOLLOW.

Let's get one thing out of the way real fast, I do not want vaping support from the government, I do not want vaping support from outside agencies.

Do you know what a hotrod is? You likely do, it makes as much sense as any of the terminology we use. Each and every one of us at one time or another had to learn it if we wanted to keep up with the conversations.

It is a bit frustrating at first, but I'm sure you'll get the hang of it.

Good day,
Maurice

P.S.: Welcome to ECF

Hmmm...i can't think of any hobbies I have that don't have a lexicon.

So true.
The great part I have found with vapers are that most are extremely helpful and downright excited to share information with you if you, simply ask.

First time I walked into a vape shop...
"ummmm...Hi...I need a new, uh, thingy?" *points to clearomizer*
No one laughs, or makes you feel stupid...they get you want you need and educate you along the way.

Welcome to ECF, best wishes on your vaping journey.
:)

You're right OP person! I apologize for using words you can't be bothered to learn (I promise to refrain from ever posting "pangolin" on the forum again). I do not have a mod, I have a Personal Electronic Nicotine Inhalation System, which I bet is bigger than yours.

I'm pretty sure I learned most of these terms in about a day.

It might have taken me a whole week. :D But then I was so busy trying to find something that would actually let me put the coffin nails down, I didn't worry about the terminology too much. ;)

the point i am making is there is no other industry/hobbie/past time, whatever, that involves this much research and a secret decoder ring to know what is going on. Take anything else you do in your personal life, look at the vocabulary used. its simplified and uniform between vendors, manufactures, and users. vaping seems to be an elitist society of people who are "too cool" to form a common set of terms and maintain it between all parties involved. as the example i used, which no one explained so my guess is most dont know and are too high on the horse to admit is the clone. call it aftermarket or knockoff. dont call it clone. thats just a cute word for "I'm ripping you off". if that is what a clone is.
okay, so you dont want government support, but you also dont want them telling you what to do. End result, government favors the loud, squeaky wheel. For the most part that is people who can afford it. They see vaping as smoking, we know its not, but they dont. By forming a uniform community, you remove the secrecy from vaping. The easier it is to become part of the community, the more support you gain. Thus releaving the pressure on vaping by parties that dont understand it.

It appears that everyone, with the exception of yourself, has been capable of comprehending everything after a short period of time.

I have to disagree, about the secret vocabulary. When I tell people I design templates for Joomla! CMS, I mostly get blank looks. When I say "I design interfaces for websites," I still get blank looks, with one or two nods. If I say "I make website designs," I get more nods, but still without a great deal of comprehension from 75% of those I might say it to. -- they may grasp the concept, but I think a lot of them suspect I just draw on my computer screen with crayons -- that's how you do it, right? ;)

Back in the '90s it was even worse. If told someone I needed a high-speed UART so I could lock my port, using a FOSSIL driver, or that I needed to debug the upper RAM to find out where a device driver was loading, and move it elsewhere with a setting in my config.sys... well. You can imagine THOSE blank looks.

Man, some feisty new folks in the forum tonight.

OP, you're frustrated. We get it. It's a JRE (Jargon Rich Environment). It'll come, we all went through it. Lots of good peeps in here to answer any and all questions you might have and direct you to some solid info.

It's no different with audio equipment, or skiing, or motorsports, or...

I personally can't see how nomenclature affects the government's perception of us.

i'm done with this. all of you have totally missed the point.
hot rods, yes, they have there own terms. all NOS, you know what that means. maybe maybe not. but no matter who you talk to in the industry it means the same thing. New Old Stock.(it means nitrous oxide systems to fake fast and the furious kids).
Computer programming, guess what, again, anyone in the industry knows what you are talking about.
both of those examples, if your new to it and learning it, its easier because everyone calls things the same name.
as far as the support thing, youll be wanting it when things start getting banned in public places, etc and you dont have the support. look at firearms and the NRA.
