Well, I logged in and went through all their stupid security checks, but that wasn't enough... noooooooo....... now I have to either add ANOTHER credit card (don't have one), or send them photo ID, bill statements, etc. WTF?!

Anyone else get this from them? I hate Paypal so much. Emailing them is useless, calling them is useless, they rip us off with greedy fees, nickel and diming us on every transaction.... If they didn't have such a monopoly in internet payments, I would have stopped using them a LONG time ago!!

That actually kinda sounds like those scam/fake paypal emails I get all the time. Don't ever click links from an email. Go straight to paypal.
If you do all that and you are still unsure, send a copy of the email to:

spoof@paypal.com

I have never had to do all that stuff you did. Hopefully its not a scam.

It's not a scam, I went directly to Paypal. I googled it as well and it looks like they're doing it to a lot of people.

Get a Greendot Pre-paid card. Then all someone has to do is buy a MoneyPack to pay you or you for them. Cheap and you dont even have to keep money on it...just put money on it when needed... It is all I use on-line..

It's not a scam! I logged into my Paypal account... the limitation notice is right there on the main page. I'm not an internet-dummy. Maybe the emails you've received were scams, but this one certainly wasn't.

Thanks for the Greendot suggestions, warlike36. I'm going to look into it. I think it's time for an alternative.

Ugh sorry this happened to you. I had this happen once, it was such a headache to get my account back to normal. I use paypal a lot so my hands were tied.

Turned out to be less of a nightmare than I was expecting, especially reading some of the stories people have posted about this.

They have restored my account back to normal. I can now resume my online shopping habits...

like 2 weeks ago summerdawn bought something off me. (we have both been verified paypal members for over 10 years) Well, paypal decided to hold the money & wanted her to do some sort of verification, & me to submit a tracking number. She did the verification immediately, & I submitted the tracking number immediately, however paypal kept the money in HOLD for an extra 5 days after she received the mod. It was insane. She even emailed paypal telling them to release the money, still they kept it 2 days after that.

Neither of us had this happen to us before. no questions were asked regarding ecigs..........but still both her & I were MAD! This was our first time dealing with each other, so it irked me a little that paypal would do something like this.

To top it off........she purchased something else from me 2 days after the original purchase & that money went through right away.............WEIRD.

What I'm getting from them isn't an email. It's in my account's homepage after logging in. It's something that the government is behind and of course paypal's not going to argue with them. I don't care, they are not getting my info. I refuse to pay tax on something that has already been taxed.

They are always trying to get me to give them bank routing numbers etc. There is a 9k limit oin what they will allow you to spend through them without going through their "verification" process.

I avoid them when possible.

Pay pal is evil. I would put up with zombies and vampires living in my basement and attic before I ever dealt with them again. I have been taken by them as both a buyer and a seller over the years. If a buyer wants to send something back you might as well take it back even if they broke it into 200 peices. If a seller sells you junk and then dissapears or doesn't even deliver, you had better hope you paid with a credit card and not your paypal ballance. Otherwise it's up to them to decide if you get your money back or not. I swear by my dog moses they protect crooks and penalize anyone who is straight up.

I hate Paypal, too. A couple of years ago, someone in Europe used my Paypal account to make a purchase in euros that amounted to about $190 in U.S. dollars! Now, I had been a verified Paypal member for a long time and you'd think that a transaction in Europe in euros would make them suspicious but nope!

I saw it appear in my bank account and contacted Paypal immediately. They couldn't have cared less. I got this whole song and dance about how it takes them so many days to investigate and then longer to return the money, blah-blah-blah. I contacted my bank and they fixed it within 24 hours. I just had to fill out a simple form. I canceled the Paypal account, upon the advice of my bank.

I haven't had any issues with PayPal, but I have never felt safe doing any online transaction. I think everyone feels safe until they discover someone has hacked their account. I have my CC setup to email me anytime a transaction over $1 goes through. Every time I order something, I get an email on my Droid telling me about it. This usually happens within 30 minutes to an hour of the time I order something online. As soon as the merchant processes the order, the email goes out.

Not at all... they're completely ignoring me now and that stupid security thing is still limiting my account... can't do a damn thing with it. If don't remove it in the next day or so I'm closing my account.
