Bert, the body of this donut appears to be made from all one piece. Many of the others appear to be separate pieces that are fused together(for the top and bottom). Is there anything you could tell us about this process?

Both of those pieces are stunning btw, I especially like the pillar:thumb::thumb:

Sure! You are absolutely right about the donut being all one piece. I like how it gives the whole thing a uniform look. I also like being able to fuse pieces together to frame the design of the donuts. They are pieced together with an Italian fusing technique called encalmo. Here are some more examples of that technique...

As you can see, when done properly all the different pieces actually become one piece of glass in much the same way that many droplets of water can become a puddle.
