Hi guys, I'm not dead!
Seriously, I'm back home and my house came out largely unscathed. I got back a week ago; sorry I have posted sooner. I though I had; I must not have hit submit. It's been absolutely crazy here. I had to de-evacuate the house; take down the sheet-metal, etc. My wooden fence was down. Get this: wood fence with 3" diameter metal posts set into concrete for support. The wood slats came
through fine; the post snapped off about 9" off the ground! This weekend, I went and rented a sawz-all and a hammer drill, cut off the remaining posts, screwed some flanges into the concrete and set new posts into the flanges and re-connected the fence. My other project is to replace some sheetrock. My mudroom has leaked ever since I bought this house. Well, the sheet-rock finally gave up the ghost during the storm. Should be a cheap fix. The best news is that I can see the original roof line (it used to be a porch) so I can wait and hopefully during the next storm I can figure out where the damn leak is (unlike any of the myriad of roofers, carpenters, etc. who swore that they've fixed the damn thing).
School's been the major source of the craziness though; evacuating for the second week of classes has put everybody scrambling to play catchup! We had class 4 days last week; I had meetings on 3 of those, and 4 more this week! This is in addition to classes, prepping for said classes, etc.
So anyway, that's why I've been AWOL. I hope everyone's okay and I hope to get caught up on the hundreds of posts I've missed in the near future. I'm off to another damn meeting; y'all have a great day!
