Whew! We've had a lot of drama in the family this past week. Mom's beloved Black Lab has been throwing up since August; the vet put him on Tagamet and every thing was going fine until this past week; he started throwing up at night. Mom started giving him his night-time dosage later and it seemed to work, until Saturday night; he threw up constantly all night! Mom was a wreck yesterday; she and my nephew managed to force-feed him Pedialyte to get him through until she could take him to the vet this morning. She's been crying all weekend, thinking it was cancer or something equally fatal. Luckily, the vet did an ultrasound and there's no tumors. The vet did a preliminary diagnosis of Addison's disease, which shocked the hell out of me; I never considered dogs could have such things. If that's what it is, at least its manageable with drugs. I don't think Mom could have stood for her Beau to pass during the holidays.
