Yeah I didn't understand it until we had Jay she is everything to us. I would laugh at the way my mom treated my kids, but it's true what they say....once she was born its a different kind of love. Almost more protective than when my babies were young. I think it's because I know what can go wrong...lol

I do too! My daughter was a tomboy never liked dolls ect. But jay she loves babies, pretend, anything shinny, and loves having her nails done along with her toes. She will be two in dec. my mom swears she was reincarnated from a Vegas show girl lol. I got her American girl dolls this year for Christmas. I am amazed that she is so careful with everything. And cleans..she has a apron she puts on and sweeps, and dust...I think I am training her right lol

Its kinda messed up though because my oldest brother and my oldest sister make quite a bit of money and have double incomes between themselves and their spouses, but they don't even buy for anyone, while I live from check to check and make it a point to get the little ones at least something small, every time I see my older siblings (which isn't often since they think thy are better then the less wealthy members of the family) they always speak of how flat broke they are, like last christmas my older sister and her husband bought their son a very expensive looking go kart and they bought their daughter all this ballerina equipment that apparently cost just as much as the go kart, but only a week earlier she was talking about how flat broke they where, then they left for a vacation to the Bahamas before the kids had to return to school. I know my younger sister got herself into the situation but they could at least show some type of empathy and give the little tikes a little something, when I say I'm broke I really am broke, yet I still find a way to give them something (though I don't have any kids of my own)

I understand what you are saying!! My brother used to make fun of me (we are 10 years apart and I am the oldest) because my children wore hand me downs, and at Christmas I would always try to get my family something even if it was small. Now that my children are older he has found himself with three little ones, and makes the same money he did before. So even though we don't have a whole lot if money, we buy the kids clothes (my mom and I), and always try to make sure to get the kids the bigger toys for them. He called me the other day and apologized. When I asked him why, he said he just didn't know how we did it with our babies. And ya know what I don't either, but we did. But I swear sometimes that big sister comes out and I just want to say TOLD YA SO!!! But I won't..lol

I think the age varies from girl to girl and some times it doesn't happen at all so you might be ok

i agree it does, my older niece has always been super responsible she never really did anything bad, she took care of here younger brother and sister though so she had a bunch of responsibly she is now in college going for a master degree with a 3.8 gpa working full time i am very proud of her considering how she grew up :)

I think DD is "mature for her age" .... of course I am biased, but she watches the news with me, we talk about issues, and to all of the normal teen traps, she says "Mom, I am smarter than that".

I think her downfall will be a smooth talking boy ..... she has had a couple boys ask her to be their "girlfriends", and she says "No, I just want to be friends", but I worry she is going to be the "I want to be in looooove" kind.

The first time my daughter slammed her door we told her next time it was coming off the hinges. About a hour later she slammed it again. Her dad took it off...this went on and off for 2 years. She didn't have a door for a whole year once. For her the first time she really tried me was in 5 th grade. She refused to go to school soooooooo I dressed in a old robe, bunny slippers, and hair curlers everyday and took her to school and sat in class with her all day. Anytime the teacher asked who knew the answer I would say Emma did. She never refused to go to school again. Then when she turned 13 that is when she started with the door....let me think..oh and once I asked her to put away her clothes that I had just washed for her she was 14 and she told me heck no I could do it if I wanted them done. So I went into her room pulled out all of her clothes including the clean ones and threw them in the yard. She not only had to get them, but she had to wash and out them away. I never washed her clothes after that. Then the glorious battle in her 16 th year...She was upset one day, and said she wanted to go to a foster home. That day when she came home...everything was out of her room and all she had was a bed 2 changes of clothes, and a pair of tennis shoes. She looked at me and wanted to know what was up..I said well my dear welcome to foster care. She had to earn everything back that year. I know I sound horrible, but she didn't do drugs, she graduated, and is getting her degree...in what we still don't know, but I have to give her credit for trying.
