Kill, I have a job lined up back home outside Dayton, OH. Doing pretty much the same thing as I did in the Army, I love my MOS just not all the unrelated military stuff. Plan is to stay there for a couple years and try to migrate your way actually, the wife and I want to be somewhere in the New England area after spending a few years near all the family.

haha, ain't no different in some civilian jobs. I understand your frustration, I deal with that same crap every dayGo to the right place, though, and you can manage to stay away from that scenario. I wish you luck in whatever new path you choose

Bert I (we) need your expertise. I don't how much you have followed about the pyrex/ss wick. They are inserting ss into a pyrex tube then wrapping the coil around the glass.
A flameworker came on and said don't use pyrex, use fused quartz. He said pyrex will shatter from thermal shock. the question I have as some of us have pyrex coming, do you think it is a concern and if so, will annealing fix that or lessen the chance....

Wharf, IIRC somebody (maybe Kami?) is sending Bert some of the tubing to be cut and annealed. I could be wrong, though . . .
Well, just got back from lunch, went out for Chinese buffet. Ah, good stuff While I was there it started to snow, just a few flurries. So Pietro it didn't work, your warm air never made it

Kami - DD was discouraged after the lesson ... I think she thought she would hop on and be galloping across the fields shooting bad guys and looking sexy like Laura Croft. LMAO I explained to her it takes time and practice, blah blah, all that Mom stuff, so she is gonna go back for her 2nd lesson.
Now she is all "my ankles hurt ..... my .... hurts ..... "
Wait till tomorrow when it will REALLY be "my legs hurt!"
Edit - I should add I thought she did REALLY well .... heels down, no floppy arms and legs, pretty quiet hands, and they even had her posting a bit. I gotta teach that child some rhythm but she did pretty well. LOL
A little nap time now, I got up too early.
