37 here, more rain and then snow forecasted for this afternoon/evening and I woke up to a dead furnace yesterday.
Got the back half of the house all closed up and I've been camped out in the living room with the dogs and a pile of blankets. I'm managing to maintain about 65 degrees in the main part of the house, but I'm going to have to turn off space heaters and candles when I leave for work, luckily it will only be for a little bit today, but still :( Hoping I can get someone to fix it today, but we may have to wait on parts.

Wow, tripsters, its been kind of quiet in here! Only 15 pages to catch up from my last pre christmas visit. Sorry to hear about the Christmas losses. I had typed a nice long paragraph about what I've been up to, but when I re-read it, it sounded terribly depressing and somewhat boring so I decided to spare you all. LOL

P1010151.jpgP1010151.jpgMorning Tipsters, Back from Christmas holidays and I was so excited to see a parcel from our Nick???? This is so exciting. My mod arrived and it's now my favorite mod by far. So easy to use and the decal is beautiful. Thank you Nick.
Now I must read and catch up.
I keep hearing about the cold snap you are all having, it must be terrible just to leave your homes. I can see a lot of pocket warmers being used.
Keep as warm as you can Tipsters.

Coralie, that looks awesome! What is it?
Confession time: I didn't make soup yesterday: it was too damn cold to leave the house, so I raided my freezer for leftovers: I had chicken curry for lunch and RB&R for supper so all was good. Today, however I managed to get to the store, so I'm trying a recipe for Loaded Baked Potato Soup. The most interesting thing: once you've cooked your 1/2 lb of bacon (yep, bacon: pork fat rules!) you then take the skins from where you peeled the potatoes and fry them in the bacon grease! They taste awesome, btw; I've been nibbling on them since I took them out.

Hi Bert, It's such a old saying but so appropriate for Thomas. He looks like a angel but acts like a devil. Never let it be said that a 2year old got the better of me. I won him over and now I just have to work on him with love and praise something he wasn't used to. Dragon Warrior
I'm glad you are on the road to recovery DW! I have to admit I had to look up what you meant by "Butter wouldn't melt in his mouth". LOL

P1010139.jpgJust a update on Thomas. He wouldn't sit and eat at all, just ran around putting food everywhere. So I got Merediths highchair plied it high with lots of toys and coached him to at least eat toast for breakfast instead of chips.
I hate to say it but I have a feeling this little fellow has a lot more problems then his parents are prepared to look at. Which is sad for him.
It's the first time his parents saw him sit still and eat.

Thanks Coralie, I just checked them out. They look quite interesting; I can't imagine going to 20 watts, lol. They look to be a round the same size as my tin mods, only fancier. It's definitely going on my list. My next planned mod is a Provari mini. My 2 Vamos are pretty much DOA. I can't complain: they both gave me over a year of exemplary service.
BTW, the soup was frickin awesome! Did I mention that in addition to the bacon and fried potato skins it has a pound of cheddar cheese and a cup of sour cream? Definitely neither heart nor figure friendly but who cares?

Reidus, I have a Provari mini and I find the charge doesn't last very long even with the extension for larger battery. What I love about this mod is it goes for a very long time and I don't have to worry about carrying batteries around when I go to work for the day. It last all day no problems.
I have tried to get the Provari serviced but can't get anyone to have a look at it in Oz . So for me I want the back up after sales as well. So my Provari is put in the back of the cupboard. I also have the standard Provari 1 (older version) but it is quite heavy to carry around all day.
I needed a unit that could be taken as my everyday unit with no hassles plus not too heavy. After the cancer my hands aren't as good as they used to be and carrying a heavy mod makes them ache too much. So far this mod has lived up to my expectation.
It is a bit pricey but if it lasts and does the job I think it's worth the $'s.
Having a fellow Tipsters behind this Mod gives me a lot of confidence in it's quality and after service.
Hope this helps

Coralie, I understand. It's the same for all devices using 18350's. And I've got a full-size Provari; it is quite hefty. One of the things I like about it is that I can have it serviced if necessary; if not, then I'd be in the same place I am with my other devices. The more you tell my about the Dark Star, the more I'm intrigued. Does it use an 18650? I'm guessing so as it's shown in the pic standing next to one, but I don't really see where it goes.

I have one and love it too! The batteries are internal.

I would assume you send it back to the vendor and pay a small fee plus postage. You'd have to ask Wharf for the exact details.

Good quality LiPo packs can last quite a while. My Darwin is over 2.5 years old and only in the last year or so have I noticed any reduction in charge life. It hasn't been my daily carry for some time, but I need to send that one in to Evolv to have the batts changed at some point. My Opus-D has been my daily carry for probably 6 months or so and still plugging along nicely.

I know no battery lasts forever, but I've been using my dark star mod hard since I got it in March with no noticeable decrease in battery life. There's 2 battery packs inside for a total of 2000 (iirc) mah so even if the battery holds only half of it's original charge it would be equal to an 1000 mah ego. Also the battery packs being used inside the DS are fairly common.
