Hi again Trippykin,

I wonder if you could help me out with something.....

I spent some time this week looking at internet security suites for my PC and decided on Norton Internet Security after seeing great reviews for it on PCMag.com and Amazon.

There is a feature for securing passwords to a "vault," but I feel uneasy about putting all my info into a "cloud."

Do you trust "clouds"? I'm not sure how to feel about them.

personally I don't trust clouds or norton lol Personally and at work I've used or run into norton in the past and it was crap about detecting things and it takes up so much room/memory. I would always have to use other software to detect viruses and malware when computers using norton slowed down or acted weird. Clean scans with norton and then a scan with something else immedietly after would reveal all kinds of crap. I've had the best luck with trend mirco(depending on settings, it thinks everything is potentially evil lol) and microsoft security essentials(which is free). Others may have more info, or have tried something else.

As for clouds, I just never saw how they could be that secure so I haven't used them.

Thanks DevD :)

Yeah, I used AVG's internet suite last year and I once downloaded a desktop clock that brought stupid pop ups with it and gave me heck to uninstall! Since that got by AVG I decided to go with something different this year

I should have asked here too before purchasing the suite. You're right about Norton, they had a bad rep for years. I was surprised to see it as an Editor's Choice at PCMag. Well, I'm stuck with it for a year and thankfully have Malware bytes and MS Security Essentials in the wings.

I'm with you DevD, I don't feel like I can trust a "cloud." It sounds so enticing to have the security software log you in and out of sites but it's not enough to make me feel comfortable yet.

Thanks again DevD

Gotta put on my cooking apron now... See yall later :)

No that temperature is Heat Wave temps. The hottest it's been in a 100 years. She is so hot she used the shower recess to cool off.
People are dropping like flies Downunder at the moment.
Lovely to hear from you.

Good Morning Good Morning Trippykin :)

Happy Thursday everyone, Happy Thursday indeed. I slept from 10p last night to 8am! :D The body has its own mind - there it was trying to make up for my lack of sleep the night before!

BERT! {{{hug}}}

Yes, it sure does feel like there aren't enough hours when your sleep cycle causes you to sleep during the morning and sometimes to noon  Shoot, even when I get up it still takes me an hour to be fully awake   I thank goodness for coffee! I've learned a couple of things about my sleeping cycle... One - my body needs 7 to 8 hours of sleep! I can't stay up late and still get up in the wee hours of the morning like back in the day! ;) Two - my body resets itself to whatever was the last time I went to bed! So when I was staying up till 2, 3, and 4am, my body became used to it and wanted to repeat, repeat, repeat! I went to bed at 10 last night, my body will want to go to bed at around that time tonight

Good luck getting back to days next week - you can do it! :D :toast:

Hi Coralie :D - It was 46 here yesterday and it felt downright balmy after last week's teen temperatures!
Awwww, sweet Porsche -- I wonder why she did that? Is your bathroom very warm? I would think she would feel cold in there! Have a lovely evening :toast:

Well she is not going to work this week, her little paws would sizzle. I hate the heat as it affects my arm. The left side swells from the cancer treatment. I carry cold towels which helps a lot.

OH!

I just did the conversion and 44 degrees Celsius equals 112 degrees Farenheit!

That heat is tough, even with air conditioning! I remember last year's heat wave with the AC on and it was still hard to feel cool!
Hang in there Coralie & Porche!

Coralie, that's hot! A trick from down here where it's hot most of the year: keep the air circulating. I've got ceiling fans in just about every room except the kitchen, office and bathrooms. In the office I've got a stand fan that I keep running pretty much year-round. In the winter my office is always cold, so I set a space heater in front of the fan and the heat circulates beautifully.
BTW, I don't know if I told you, but I found a brownie recipe I love. It's called "whatever floats your boat" brownies, but I refer to them as ... brownies, lol. It's a very good basic brownie recipe that you add whatever you like to. I made a batch with chocolate and peanut butter chips and it's awesome! Next time, I'm gonna try chocolate chips and maraschino cherries. :2cool:

Norton is a pile of dog doo IMHO. I used it many years ago and had nothing but trouble with it. It occasionally flagged legitimate programs as viruses and ate up far too many resources. Their support sucked, too  Been using Avast now for quite a while. Works great, lightweight and it's free ;-)

Morning Tripsters! Well no break today been sent for a random drug test for work /sigh

Sorry to hear that. They're such a hassle, sometimes, hope yours isn't too complicated. I get three different random screening pools (and different batteries of tests): one per company policy, one for DoT and another to maintain my forklift certs

Hi all. TGIF!
I've had a fairly productive day. Finally got a hair cut and also went out and bought some chicken wire and a staple gun. Tomorrow I'm going to close off the space under my house so I can let Sophie "zoom" in the front yard w/o worrying about her scooting under the house, coming across who knows what. For those of you who don't understand "zooming", at Mom's house, with 3 acres, she will just run flat out in long circles. My yard, while tiny in comparison, hopefully will give her space to work off some energy.

Update on Nortons: As I shared here, I purchased Norton's on Wednesday from Amazon and did a quickie scan that day, but decided to try the full system scan Thursday night after dinner. from 7p to midnight. I waited thinking it would be done soon. It kept going so I went to bed. On Friday morning when I awoke it was still going, nearly 14 hours of scanning!!

I thought this can't be right and I chatted with Norton customer support online. I couldn't believe they were telling me to download Norton's Power Erase to run on my computer in the event of some deeply embedded virus or malware. Isn't this why I purchased Nortons I asked. They replied that it might have been there before I installed Nortons. :?: During the chat, Norton crashed  Well, I installed Power Erase and it found nothing. I had to start another online chat to figure out why the scan was going on forever. This Symantec rep said he could help me locate the area where it was hanging - on the Z drive, where I am connected to my husband's Mac wirelessly! Via remote access he removed a second Norton icon on the system tray. I saw that he opened and closed menus on the application looking for the Z drive but I didn't see him do anything but click through? And then told me that Norton's should now only scan my computer.

To check I rain a full system scan again and lo and behold, after a few hours of scanning my system, it started scanning the Z drive again

I let this rep have remote access, even though I was uncomfortable about it, for nothing!

I let the scan go on to see if it would complete but after 4 hours I stopped it! I figured out how to exclude the Z drive from the scan myself! I'll check at the next full system scan whether I excluded the Z drive successfully but I just couldn't bring myself to do another scan after so many hours at it! After of reading tons of help pages I think I did the right thing :thumb: Would you believe there was no user manual for 2014 to be found! :nah: I had to refer to a 2012 user manual!

Ugh! The price we pay to be able use our computers in peace! :)

I feel your pain, Delilah. That's why I don't use Norton anymore. I use a combo of Microsoft Essentials and Malware Bytes.
Well I've got my front yard contained. However, Sophie didn't really understand what to do with the yard, lol. That is, until we started playing fetch. Then she was as happy as a pig in mud.
Any word on a sale this weekend?
