Wow buddy that sounds awful, :( sorry to hear you're having such a rough time. I think that is pretty ridiculous for a DUI. Not to say DUI's aren't a serious matter, but to have that hanging over your head for 3 years and with all those fines...well, it's just Uncle Sam being good ol' Uncle Sam. Sucks man, really feel for ya. Hopefully you can get everything sorted out so they aren't screwin you so bad.
You know, other than those 3 hours today my life has been going fantastic these last couple weeks. So I'm just gonna eat the $$, wait til next year, and have a couple beers. (When this happened today the Mrs surprised me with a 6-pack of Amber Ale when I got off work :) god I just love her) So ya, chin up, stiff upper lip whot whot.

Ben, I'm with ya on how effed up our legal system is. I still have an alcohol charge on my record (the only thing on there, actually) that isn't even mine . . . happened in a town I'd never been in, apparently I went to court over it, too (I've never been in a courtroom before, either, unless you count school field trips). I found out about that one a few years after the fact and spent a few more years trying to get it straightened out, every time being told "no problem, it's all sorted out", then having a cop buddy check my record for me a couple weeks after each attempt to find it's still there  I just gave up after a while. Glad I didn't get pulled over during the period that my license was suspended, though, 'cos I wasn't even aware that it was at the time
That is so ridiculous. Sorry to hear that man. I bet they treated you like you were in the wrong too whenever you talked to them huh? That's one of my peeves, when they treat you like a lesser person while you explain how they messed something up.

Hey guys,

I just found out my DW banner doesn't work....how do I get it to work?
Double-check your url BBcode. Go to your sig and on the left of your picture put this code

Code:
[url="http://www.yourlinkhere.com"

then put this on the right side

[/url]

Make sure you put an closing bracket ] after the second quotation mark, for some reason my code boxes are not allowing me to put that without turning it into an active link.

Yeah, those code boxes aren't working right. If you put a set of URL tags inside the CODE tags, it'll make the link like normal instead of showing the code. Not sure why that is

Thats what I'm saying! I just edited my post like 6 times. Its weird I could swear the code boxes worked normally last month

Hi, mal :)

Ben, the CODE tags have acted like that for quite a while now. At first I thought it was something to do with vBulletin in general, 'cos I was far more familiar with phpBB at the time (before ECF it had been years since I was last on a vB forum), but then I discovered it wasn't just me who was getting confused by it  Fortunately I don't have need to use that tag very often and it's easy enough to just add a couple spaces within the code to break it and make it visible

Hi maleko! How ya been? Hows the hotel stuff?

That's probably why I didn't notice, I never use CODE unless trying to explain how to do something. Actually last time I checked there were a few other vB codes that didn't work... Wish they had a [warning][/warning] those can make for some funny jokes...

Howdy Tripsters!

Back from class and goofing around for a bit. :)

Cyclin, I have to agree that our legal system is a bit whacked. When I was staying to help out my parents back in September, someone I thought was my friend broke into our house, stole all of our stuff (we were in the process of moving, so most stuff was gone) and then literally trashed the entire house. Trashed as in the house will have to be torn down, there is no saving it as she cut our pipes and flooded the entire house (trying to steal the copper). I know it was her because she borrowed a hose from my neighbors and told them she was "helping" us move because I was taking care of my father. A few weeks later she got arrested for armed robbery. Not only did she not get arrested for destroying my house (neighbors couldn't conclusively identify her), but her armed robbery charges got dropped because her father paid off the person she robbed.

I know now that she's a messed up .... head, and I have no doubt that Karma will eventually take care of things, but dang, I do wonder how our legal system lets a person get away with so much!

Also, I would also totally wait to get my license back before installing the interlock system. It's really expensive and a huge PITA. It makes you pull off to the side of the road and randomly test (great on road trips and in traffic!) and if you don't make it in time, it locks you out and you have to pay *again* to have it reset. (oh, and if your stereo is up loud, you can miss hearing it)

I had one in my car for about three weeks many years ago. From what I understand, the technology isn't much different now.

I do not see how they prevent someone who wants to drink and drive from doing so, either. It's not like the machine knows who is breathing into it.

Oh ya thats where we are at right now, I'm just gonna wait :)

Don't get me wrong, still going to the courthouse to flash some receipts and get my fines cleared. And I am gonna get my credit for that class, hopefully the breathalyzer demand can be revoked, it doesn't hurt to ask while I'm fixing the other stuff. I thought I got all this ready during the last 3 years, but I guess I need to try again :)

(The beer is helping )

I'm very sorry to hear about your ordeal with the legal system. Especially about all that damage that sucks, but you're right karma will happen. Plus I'm sure you live a much better quality of life than that girl who was being a POS. I try to think about it that way when someone does me wrong, I'm just glad I don't have to be them ya know?

In the clouds
thanks for the tips. I'll have to try this when my brain isn't too fried.....

Hope that happens soon :D

Damselle, I tried the code before but I found an easier way that worked for me...

After I put the DWC banner in the sig box (and copied the URL from DWC's fundraiser page) I used the link (globe with the chainlink to the right of the smileys)

Copy the the url from DWC's fundraiser page

Then highlight the banner and click on the link icon and paste the url you copied.... I hope that works for you :)
