My day is over and it wasn't great. I've decided to be sick tomorrow to protest the actions of our pointy haired Dilbert's boss type who's now decided that at a completely unconventional software company, we all need to be in the office before 9am. Now for the past 10 years at this company, It was my understanding that we had lots of flexibility to come and go as we pleased providing we did our 8 or more hours. I've worked weekends and while on vacation. I've stayed well past 16 hours a day for a week straight and haven't taken a sick day in over 2 years. I have a 45-50 minute commute in the morning if I leave at 9am which will shift to over an hour to be there by 9am and it's more like an hour and 10 in the dark of the evening. I just don't get this guy and yet I don't have any option but to conform in the near term. I'm so p!ssed I could just spit. I am keeping a ray of sunshine in my heart that the FDA will be forced to do the right thing and not totally ban this awesome technology so I can open my own vape shop and within time tell the corporate monkeys to Kiss My Patootie! It's a dream anyway.

My heart was in my throat when I read your post. You're a wonderful person based on your interactions on the thread and I personally could use some of your attitude. You stay tough as I can tell your one tough Tennessean. My wife was born in Nashville so I know a little something about how tough you young ladies can be. My thoughts are with you. Brew

Brew why are bosses such asssssssssssssssssholes. Ralf has the same problem with his boss. For years he has gone in a hour early in his own time and opened up the dealership and yet the other day the boss had a go at him for leaving work 5 minutes early to go and meet me at the Doctors.
How dare he, never taken sick leave in 10 years and to be spoken to like a 3 year old.
I felt so sorry for Ralf when he told me.
And shocked when I read your post. I wish you could tell them to go hell.

I'm sorry Brew and Vintage. I have a good boss in that he is permissive if I ask, but our extra time is not considered either. I am almost always at school an hour early but that is not taken into account. I could say a lot more, but I won't.

I got the call-back for the gardening job, and go in Monday to hear their proposal. I am starting to wonder though, what if they want me to work a lot of evenings and weekends .... I think it will be a float-type of position.
I guess all I can do is tell them my concerns and "Thanks but no thanks" if that's what they want.
I want to be able to at least SEE my daughter once in a while. LOL
Oh, and today she is a TEENAGER!

Sitting here leisurely drinking my coffee after sending a message to my department that I'll be home today. I forgot what playing hooky felt like. Got 10 days of sick time a year I never take or at least taken just 3 times in 10 years. My boss has prompted me for years to take some mental health days utilizing my sick time "cause everybody else does" but it just didn't seem necessary with the lenient schedule. Now things have changed and they get what they seem to be asking for dumba$$es. Brew
