those look great bert. are there any differences in the black tips at the bottom than the black ones higher up? aside from shape.

Yes, the ones at the bottom are the Obsidian ones. They are opaque black. The ones further up are a smoky very dark grey color and they transmit light. Some of the dark grey ones are sparkly as well.

Yes, that one does glow, and you are right about the layers. It's a laminate!
