Article in a UL paper- negative about e-cigs

Brought up by a newer member, dovelove, there is an article from a UK paper the other day saying that e-cigarettes haven't had enough testing, bad quality control in China, etc.. and may be unsafe. Aren't worries over quality control not a problem when you buy from an American seller who makes them?

Yes, quality control is a problem wherever the product is from, we can't trust any commercial enterprise with our health. It is up to them to prove safety, sooner is better than later. If they don't do tests voluntarily like Pillbox they will eventually be forced by regulations, it might even put some of the unprepared out of business.

That article tells no lies as far as I can see, we don't know about safety and people should be cautious before jumping on the esmoking bandwagon, we don't know where it's going yet.

I left a comment on that article for anyone who wants to know more to look at this forum. There is a lot of mostly reliable impartial information here.

Would have expected a little more fear mongering from the 'daily misery'. Im surprised the headline didn't read 'thousands at risk of certain death from new smoking device' I expect you can tell I am not a fan of this paper.

the annoying thing about the article is that it tends to report on the e-cig as NRT.

Why can't people accept it isnt a nicotine replacement therapy rather a nicotine replacement system. NRS

People wouldnt be against it half as much if it wasnt made to look like something it is not.

i use mine as a nicotine replacement device.. NR?.. the key word is THERAPY this word treads on the toes of the medical profession.. it implies it has their approval.. something they will never give purely because of the highly addictive nature of e smoking..

it is a nicotine replacement device any fool knows this.. why else do we do it.. ??

THERAPY is the key word.. this must not be used.. the rest is easy..

saying its being sold as way around the pub ban is demeaning.. it isnt.. and its okay to sell it as as nicotine replacement device by my understanding of the english language.. it replaces tobacco as a means of getting nicotine..

whats its not is a therapy..

however by my understanding of the english language.. it is a drug.. simply not a prescribed one.. so its a drug that can at present be legally sold..

its hard for them to ban nicotine as a drug whilst at the same time permitting other products that contain the drug nicotine to be legally sold..

its safer than tobbaco or i think it is.. so do lots of us.. at present that will do for me..
