just got my copy, but for the benefit of non-subscribers/cheapskates :)p) it's also available online @ Have the tobacco police gone too far? - science-in-society - 01 April 2009 - New Scientist (this week only, unless you have subscriber access to their archive.)

Very interesting - mentions Dr. Siegel, Carl Phillips, e-cigs and other smokeless products, and the unscrupulous tactics of the health fascists in trying to stop research that doesn't support their own intolerant prejudices.

Best quote: "This is censorship. We are heading towards scientific McCarthyism"

All too true! But it's good to see that a serious scientific magazine can take a level-headed perspective on an issue that's so emotive. I've noticed before that NS is more open to fair debate than some of its rivals on contentious issues like this - long may it continue!

Good article, thanks for posting it. I did notice that the Bill Godshall referenced in the article posted on here today and seems to support electronic vaporizers as a positive alternative to analogs. The article confirms what I believe about the anti-smoking nazi's, that they would prefer we all just lay down and die and are as closed minded as Joseph MaCarthy was.
