I know, this has probably been asked a million times, but at least I tried to get some kind of knowledge base before asking. But I digress, I'm looking into getting a nice e-cigarette for my girlfriend for Christmas. After some research, I've narrowed it down to either the kGo or the Epower 14650; however, I'm still open to suggestions.

The main thing I'm worried about is the size. I dont want her to feel embarrassed when she pulls out a giant ... vape stick. I've seen them in videos but it's hard to make the call without seeing them side by side. How do these to compare in size, and further, how do they compare in size versus an 808 style or an analog cigarette?

While she smokes daily, I'm not really expecting her to quit analogs cold turkey or even quit at all, but it would be nice to edge away from analogs and smoke inside etc etc. Also, I like these e-cigs and would also hit it at night while relaxing.

So from what I can tell they both hit nicely and have a nice battery. The issue with the Epower seems to be the failing switch, while the kGo replacement batteries are almost 20 dollars. How often will the battery have to be replaced?

Another plus side to the Epower is the amazing kit it comes with from Crystal Clear vaping, which seems it would pretty much supply me with everything we would need (atomizers, cartridges, cartomizers, batteries, juice). The kGo kit from Hoosier only comes with batteries, atomizers, 6 pre-filled cartridges - these are for use with atomizers correct?

So I'm also interested in the cartomizer route, as it seems it would be an easy 'fill & go' solution. How many uses can you get out of a cartomizer? The most popular seem to be the Resurrectors. Since these are both 510 devices these cartomizers would fit both right? Would the Resurrectors look bad on the kGo? Any other cartomizer suggestions?

Also, if you currently know of any better deals on these kits or some great deals on juice for the holiday season I'd love to hear em!

Looks like you def did do your homework!

When I first started my decision was between the kGo and E-Power too.

Their both bigger than a regular cig or 808 but I dont find them to be overly big.

I ended up going with the E-Power and I got mine from CCV bc that deal is nice like you said.
They are both great PVs but I liked that the E-Power uses non-proprietary batteries and this was prob the biggest thing that made me lean toward the E-Power. E-Power batteries cost $4 compared to $18 for kGo. Also you get 2 with the kit, so its easy to always carry a backup(Battery is about the size of a AA but alittle longer). E-Power batteries also last longer before they need to be replaced.

I think cartomizers are the way to go and like you said are easier when your out and about. The Ressurectors are awesome and will work great on both units. I did like that you get a free pack with the E-Power. The Boges are also very popular cartos that work well.
If the Ressurectors are filled correctly and you take care of them they last a long time. Avg prob about 1-2 weeks, but it also depends on the juice. Ive been using one Ressurector on my E-Power for 4 and a half weeks.

Overally both are great devices. Personally I liked that it was easier to carry a backup battery for the E-Power and since everything is replaceable on the unit it keeps costs down. But the kGo is also a great PV.

Just wondering but what did you mean by the E-Power failing switch?

In my opinion your looking at it from what makes sense for your taste. If I were you I would go to smokelessimage.com and get her a starter kit there. They have different colors and all that crap women are into. Their starter kits are great for a beginner. Good luck!

The biggest battery from smokelessimage is 320 mAh, it's not so bad but for me it would last around 1h30 before I need to recharge it, which is a pain. I've found that ecig below 500 mAh is just not worth it. You buy a small ecig to look cool instead of a bigger one but you don't look cool when you need to recharge them 10 times a day.

FussyQBert : whatever you choose tho will be a good choice, even if it's a poor ecig it do makes a good backup and there's so much to test when you start anyway.

ive been looking around and seen those 510 with the pack charger. i beleive you charge the pack which is a 1400mha battery and that charges the ecig battery when you put it back into the pack. if so u should get over a day of vaping on 1400 mha and a smaller size ecig for a lady, plus some of them looks pretty much the same as an actual analog, then people wont hardly even notice any diffrent. just my opinion plus i dont think they are that pricy either

IMHO, you can't beat the KR808s for a starter kit. They give a lot of bang for their cigarette shape. If she likes vaping she may upgrade to something with a better battery, but the KR808s will always be useful to her in public situations. They are small enough to fit in a clutch purse or shirt pocket, they can be vaped stealth, and they are less intimidating to people that don't know what ecigs are (less druggy looking).

Vapor4life is a popular company in KR808 world because it is all they sell and they have sales every week. Tons of flavors in prefilled cartomizers, rainbow of battery colors, etc. make the KR808 a good first time PV. It's simple, works well, and get you started with something fun.

Vapor4life will also be an easy place for her to shop as a beginner since everything is compatible. They have a 28% off sale until noon EST tomorrow on everything. Send me a private message if you want the code.

Best thing is to start vaping, First PV isn't all that important unless it is too complicated and fussy. Even if tight on funds, cigarette money saved should eventually cover it. The tough part is getting ecig supplies while you are still smoking. She is lucky she doesn't have to worry about that because she has a boyfriend sweet enough to get her a starter kit.

I've seen some 808s around and they just never seem to pull that well or give nice vapor. That's why I was leaning toward a manual switch. Maybe I've just seen cheap brands. Icon is a bit out of my price range.

I've heard the switch/button on the Epower breaks a lot, but I think they started using a new plastic button instead of rubber which might improve things. Those specials from CCV look so good though.

Does anyone own both devices? I'd love to see a side by side picture. From what I can tell the Epower seems a little more bulky but I may be wrong.

Also, the big cone shape seems like its kind of a turn off and I imagine it would be for her too, that's why this kGo looks so sleek to me. Found this somewhere on this forum.

the thing is does she know she's getting an e-cig? I reason I ask is because a lot of people when the first get an e-cig in their mind think it needs to look and feel like a cigarette, most once they realize that vaping is good cigarette is bad they move on to a ego style or some sort of mod. you may want to look at smokelessimage for a volt to start they have a inexpensive starter kit in all the pretty colors, I get about 3-4 hours out of their longest battery with heavy vaping. if it kind of resembles a cigarette she might be more open to it she can upgrade later if she like it.

In my experience the women like the slim analog looking Ecigs while most men like the mods. A Riva or Ego Starter Kit would probably suit her fine. Liberty-flights.com has a 20% off coupon so for under $50 she'd have a good start.
Good Luck, Vapoor.
P.S. I would order early A's I believe there's gonna be lots of Ecig Christmas gifts IMHO.

I gotta say hairball is right. Either go for the Icon, or if you have more of a budget constraint (or not so sure she'll take to vaping), the KGO is an awesome little PV. I started with the KGO and absolutely love it. I have an E-Power, but it's an 18650 and I only really use it at home or a private setting, (I don't usually walk the streets with it, same goes for the Indulgence I have, which is about the same size ((BIG)). The Kgo is not too big, not too small, and packs a punch. It's durable and beautifully made and has a slimline style unlike other -gos like the GoGo which is fatter.

The KGO will be perfect to try out all things 510 - atomizers, cartomizers, fluxomizers, and tanks. It's a really good tool for trying out many things until you find your fave way to vape. I see the Icon as kind of the Rolls Royce KGO. I don't have one, but Puresmoker puts out a good product from what I hear, and it looks pretty! Also, the ability to change batts on the inside will be cheaper than replacing a whole battery unit.

However; I must point out that with the KGO she can then go for different colors (they come in Black, SS, Titanium and Pink). Also. with KGOs you can mix and match the cones for fairly cheap to get different combos of colors if she'd like that. After buying the KGO kit, I ordered more spare batts even though I didn't need them just to get different colors and to always have one on hand, charged, each with one of my favorite flavors, ready to go. (Might be overkill) :p

Whichever way you go, I'm sure she'll be happy to have an alternative to smoking and she may just convert into a vapehead before your very eyes, that's my fair warning, LOL.

Great gift idea and good luck to you!

Here's a picture from volcano ecigs that shows the various sizes of their ecigs. The one on the right is a standard 808 style (normal cigarette size) and the one on the right is their 1000Mah Ego-T (the inferno). I would recommend the inferno kit to most, but if size is a huge factor the Volt from smokeless image is a good choice.

Ok, well I think I've settled on the kGo for its sleek form factor over the Epower. The kit comes with 2pcs 2ohm atomizers and some prefilled cartridges. Can these cartridges be refilled?

So it seems that I'd still need to order some cartomizers. Everyone talks about the Resserectors but I've read somewhere that the kGo was not made for resistances of <2.0 ohms. Has anyone had experience with this? Maybe I should just use the Boge? Probably going to order these from CCV. Looks like I also have to select a drip tip?

Ive also heard of Echo-E cartos and EMDCC?

Any other hardware you guys would recommend to purchase with this kit? Or juice?

-edit-

Now I'm second guessing and thinking I should go with an 808 like VaporKing or Volt... AHhhhhhh

If I was you, i would get something over 450 mAh so that you can use low resistance cartomizers on them. I dont know about the 2 kits you mentioned but I do have resurrectors and I really really love them -- and love low resistance. You get a much better hit from LR, and the resurrectors hold quite a bit of liquid.

Until she knows which flavors, stengths and pg/vg mixes she likes, I would stick with the smaller versions.

I echo the Regulated 3.7 volt sealed automatic Kits from Volt as well.
They even have Diamond end caps (bought seperately) for bling.

Diamonds are a girls best friend.

How is the vapor production from these Volts? Also why automatic battery? The manual battery seems to offer much more control and better hits.

These kits both have around ~1000mAh. The Epower runs at 3.7v while the kGo runs at something around 4v? I may be incorrect, but I think I read the higher voltage of the kGo does not work well with <2.0 ohms.

So is <2.0 ohms considered low-resistance? Does this determine how hard you have to pull? Is 2.0 ohms a good place to start?

The Ressurectors work great on the E-Power and the kGo. No problems at all. Like someone said though, they are big (hold 2ml of juice) so maybe the Boges would be better to start until she knows what juices she likes.

Id use an atty and drip into it to test juices to see what she likes, and then fill a carto. Then you wont waste cartos on juice she doesnt like.

Answering your last post, Id get a Manual battery. Like you said it gives you much better control of your vaping. Also the automatic batteries can get ruined by juice going into the hole. And as a new vapor, that def could happen. Manual batteries are sealed so they survive better thru juice leaks. Its up to you though!

Goodluck!
