So. I don't smoke and haven't ever so I have no idea what i'm doing or looking for.

My 22 yr old son just moved back in with me to get back on his feet and he smokes. He used to have a vape (is that even the right terminology?) but it broke and I was thinking of buying him another for Christmas. Don't believe he's that picky since it appears there are a lot of variables. All I do know is that he was poor, he splurged on a cheap 1 and it broke and that he liked it just fine. He was/is trying to quit smoking but in the meantime I am supporting his smoking habit so... I have no idea what i'm looking for or where to start... If it's a good idea. basically nothing. Opinions, suggestions, thoughts welcome and thank you.

Incidentally, new here, howdy :)

Evod ecigs are what a lot of people use to start with. I had several and they work just fine for a beginner. And lots of places sell them in double kits, so you've always got a spare to use when one is charging. And they shouldn't cost too much either.

Google "Double Evod kit" and you'll find loads of places selling them - just pick one that sells them at a good price and don't get ripped off.

Hohm Tech makes a great all in one called the Hohm Skillet. Fairly straight forward, you just charge, fill with your favorite juice and vape. They're INSANELY cheap now. Google cheap vaping deals and on the first hit, it's about halfway down the page. There are other deals as well. If he doesn't want to use his own liquids, there are kits like the Juul with pre-filled pods you just install and vape.

Welcome to ECF! :)

I think this is a great idea. It would get your son off of cigarettes, which is obviously beneficial health-wise, and it could/should be less expensive as well. I say could/should be less expensive because of the tendency to turn vaping into a hobby resulting in a condition called shineyitis ... the uncontrollable urge to have all the latest and greatest vaping devices of which there are many. :D

It still beats cigarettes no matter how you look at it though.

One thing I might suggest that you could do is to just give him a gift certificate of some sort. It doesn't necessarily have to be an actual one, just something that says you will purchase a device of his choosing, within a certain monetary threshold to be determined by you. That way he can be an active participant in the selection yet it would still be a surprise.

The downside is of course, he wouldn't have it immediately upon opening but trying to figure out what he would like out of all the possible options out there can be a daunting task, especially for someone unfamiliar with vaping. You might even get lucky and find some really good deals after Christmas.

Hi @Sparkle Pony and welcome to ECF

The EGO AIO (all in one) is a fabulous little device, and is very sturdy and inexpensive. $10 each. I suggest THREE of them, so one can be on the charger, one can be ready as a spare, and the one being used. The only other thing you will need is nicotine juice.

I second the evod double kit not hard to use and gives a good starting point. Maybe buy two boxes of coils at different ohms he can use one for awhile then try the other ones. Just realize this is a starting point after he uses them for a while can move to more advanced products knowing more about what he likes and doesn't like plus as he moves up can use the older stuff as backups
