**fingers crossed now that i've turned the wattage down to 15watts.. let's see how this works now..

Yea I prime the coil with a few drops first and then put it all together, make a couple of dry pulls, and then leave it for 10 mins or so..

Before UM I was using a much sweeter fruity juice and my coil just gunked up after a day!
Yea Im getting 2-5 days per coil too..

I've used and 80% VG before this and had no such "problems"

All the while Im using a 6mg nic even before the Atlantis..

Yeap Im seeing air bubbles with dry pulls or even normal pulls..

Just curious, why do you do a couple dry pulls? Sounds like that would risk burning the cotton if you're only priming the coil and not also completely priming the cotton.

I just put as many drops as needed from the top on the cotton around the coils until I see the cotton change colors at the 4 juice ports at the sides of the head, fill the tank, wait a minute or 2, then vape. Same way PBusardo does it.

Thanks to all that gave pointers!

I re-primed my coil with the Unicorn Milk and havent gotten any initial dry hits.. I guess it wasnt wicking that well..
And I took the advice of vaping it at 15 watts..

Now I cant stop vaping! LOL Thanks again!!

Glad it helped! Now just remember if you clean and dry your coils when you change flavs to repeat the priming process.

Also now that it is primed, try stepping the wattage up/down in 1 watt increments until you find your "sweet spot"

Also the Atlantis will not wick juice as well when airflow is set wide open as there isn't enough vacuum as when it's more restricted. I find airflow varies depending on the juice and flav I am running!

Bad news with the Atlantis last night. Dropped my mod and afterwards the bottom of the Atlantis base was crooked. No problem, I'll use Channel Locks to push the botttom piece back in place. It worked but I bent the wall around the atomizer seat. Of course you can't buy the Atlantis bottom hardware only other than for $14 from Aspire. Luckily vapenw has the Atlantis tank on sale for $19.99 so I've a new one on the way. At this price I bought 2.

Question: how do I clean the coil? I've read about soaking it in warm water and then drying it out but the cleaned coil will only last for 2 days or so..
I havent tried it yet though...

Yeah Me too, the sweet spot for wattage and airflow varies on the juices I use..

For a very thorough clean, some here will soak in vodka. Then rinse and dry well...

One huge note here on those coils... let them dry before using them! If you try to use wet after washing and forget to prime it you will burn it up! <-- Don't ask me how I know! I am rotating coils now. 2 are drying while another is vaping!

I have been using the Nautilus and NautMini for quite a while now. I love them - reliable, predictable and robust with the SS tank sleeves installed. Also, I love my Tugboat Clone RDA when I'm lounging on the couch. The RDA yields the best puff by such a longshot, but it does not travel well at all.... I hoped to combine the strengths of my Nautilus tanks with the puffs of my RDA and hoped the Atlantis was the answer.

It seems like the Atlantis could be the answer, but thus far it isnt. The hit is there but my mouth is sprayed with a mist of hot vapor and something seeming to be particulate. It actually hurts after a while. I have used small fractions of cotton as a 'filter' to catch the mist and particulate - after 2 puffs, the cotton is soaked. I really love vaping good ejuice but do not like drinking it! And as for the particulate, I dont know what to say or think - it concerns me.

Any thoughts from the community on this? Any suggestions? Thanks!

had the same prob w/subtank mini, my fix was get the ss mesh from the aspire bvc coil and place into the drip tip base b4 putting on the driptip/mouthpiece, some spit might still get past the center hole of the mesh

Sounds like you need to turn down the power! Try a lower setting until you find the sweet spot, also try to adjust airflow at the same time. You'll find it! And it does change with juice!

I replaced the wick with Japanese cotton. Much better flavor, rarely any spitting at all, and much safer in my opinion. I too noticed a dryness to my mouth, some particulate feeling, and a slightly sore through within minutes of hitting the Atlantis. It's fairly simple to rebuild the coil with cotton if you are a handy person. There are several youtube video tutorials. I prefer to rebuild it vertical as it comes, some rebuild it horizontal, but I believe they still have the spitting issue then.

Thanks for your advice, I will give it a try. That was what I was trying to accomplish witht he cotton fractions - and it did work, though only for a short time prior to the cotton becoming soaked. I will try the mesh. Thanks again.

I have tried the full range of options and do agree that each juice has a sweet spot with regards to power and air flow - though I have not succeeded in finding a balance that keeps the juice off my tongue and roof of mouth! I am not giving up though and appreciate the feedback.

I cant help but wonder if I have received a bad batch of coils.... Upon closer inspection of the mesh in this batch i see very poor alignment of the mesh and significant gaps. So i just scratched the authenticity thing, checked and they appear to be authentic... In addition to trying the mesh below the drip tip, I am ordering a new batch of coils. I will update if I find success.

I agree, very easy after a few tries.

I'd suggest saving all your old (burnt tasting) coils and practicing with them!

Also, the health concerns over ceramic paper have caused me to just crack open a brand new unused coil and rewick it!

Another thought... I have noticed with larger hits that upon exhale my moustache gets wet... never experienced this with any other vape tank.

SO... perhaps the extra juice is just highly concentrated vapor because the Atlantis is that good?

OR???

You nailed it here - exactly my 'symptoms'. I will check out rebuilds online. If you have any tips that have worked for you, much appreciated. If I had any questions in advance of doing research, they would be source of the cotton you prefer and the gauge of the wire you use for the rebuild. I keep bumming cotton my favorite juice bar as he has some nice linearly pulled cotton that seems far better than the balls - but I cant find the cotton I am searching for. Additionally, I use 28ga wire for my dual coil RDA builds and I am guessing that is too small for this application. Anyway, thanks kindly for your advice.

Good Call, will do.

Also, the health concerns over ceramic paper have caused me to just crack open a brand new unused coil and rewick it!

This sits at the top of my concerns list - agree.

For better or for worse, I believe this is partly or even largely the case. I am becoming more optimistic by the second on what can be done with the rebuilding. It took me a while to work out what I like with my RDA, I had not considered such tinkering an option for the Atlantis - but since tinkering is an option, it will be made to work - I appreciate the guidance friends.

I have found that it isn't that hard to gently remove the stock coils from the atomizer head, clean them and re-wick with flat ... cotton. I cut a strip the same height as the original wicking material, then thin it by tearing in half, wrap twice fairly tightly, then reinsert coil, wet wick thoroughly, and vape.

Easy, although you may have to play with a few to get the airflow right! Too much cotton and youll have a tight draw, too little and it'll be an easy draw with possibility for splash back!
