Wasn't sure where to post this, but this was my first 'real' battery, and the reviews were good. But unlike the specs which say it takes 2-5 hours to charge, mine take upward 20 hours. That's why i got a second same battery to use while the first one charges. Right now, both have been charging for about 2 hours, and it's safe to say they will still be charging by tomorrow afternoon. i use aspire's designated charger with a wall outlet.

I contacted the online store as well as aspire directly, but they wouldn't/couldn't pin down any cause. I told them my cigalike charges faster and lasts longer which doesn't make sense since this aspire battery's 10 times the size, but is true. I think the store is reputable.

Any advice on why a battery (Aspire cf-vv), the size of a big cigar takes 20 hours to charge fully, and doesn't last nearly as long in use?
Weird thing is no-one else in the reviews complained of the same thing.

I looked at the wart label and it reads 5v 500mA, i use it for my iphone.
500mah is not enough for those large high drain batteries.
Get one that'll do at least 1amp minimum.
A 2 or 3 amp wall wart will generate less heat that's why I recommended over 1 amp. They may charge faster too if they require 2 amps for charging.

Your current wall wart only supplies 1/2 an amp.
It's not enough power. Cheers.

More Amps - more fully? Nope. No way.
In theory you may be right.
In practice I found it to be the case.
My istick40 was taking forever to charge and the whole thing was getting warmer than I liked, plus it never charged fully.

I asked about it here on ECF and Mooch suggested using a 1 or 2 amp wall wart...I used a 3 amp phone wart...Problems solved! Cheers.

Aspire cf vv? Should be fully charged in max. 4 hours...even with a 500mA charger...if it is the biggest with 1600mAh.

Maybe it is defective...the battery or maybe the charger!

Yea, it's weird. I got the second battery thinking it'd prove if the first one was just defective, but both of them charged forever right off the bat.

.. and the reviews were good

It is the great non-mystery of the e-cig world. That battery is not good... we could have told you this.
This is the way it works. Nobody (and I mean nobody with any experience) bought that battery when it came out... the writing was on the wall from day one.
Most reviews are fake. Most reviews that are really genuine are from people who have just upgraded from some total garbage product like Blu or Greensmoke.

It's still on sale... $32... OMG! For $32 you can buy an advanced mod and a quality IMR 18650.
Man... I know this isn't helping you... but really... is this what people are still buying?
Low life-expectancy junk from 2014.

Truth is, NONE of the these tech batteries charged properly... Vision Spinners, Aspire CF VV, eGo VV v3, Evod twist.
The only battery of this type that charged properly was the Innokin iTasteVV v3. I bet you can still buy that too, for the price of a 40 watt, temperature controlled iStick.

TLDR; it's either as good as dead, or your charger is not working as it should.

I am sympathetic, but you can tell from the tone of my post just how much this winds me up.

djsvapour,

Well, i found a wart with 1000mA output that i'm trying, and will see if it low n behold is fully charged at least by tomorrow noon, which would be remarkably fast.

Just checked back on my ticket, and got a response, they've approved a return, in case.

Btw, it wasn't hyperbole to say my cigalike batteries charge quicker and last longer.

They should charge in half the time as before.
Be sure it's a 5 volt wall wart, check occasionally for excess heat and you'll be golden. Cheers.

Thanks, good to know that.

As for fake reviews, this 1 sounds fake to me:

"My experience with MVS is excellent. The value, quality and speed of delivery was excellent. I ordered my product and had it within a week. EXCELLENT EXPERIENCE!!!"

After checking the Aspire website I noticed the only device that was shown to come with a usb cable is the passthru device.

Did the mod come with a ego/usb adapter?
If not and you are using a 500mah adapter it will also be a power bottleneck. A 1amp aspire 510/usb adapter will also be required to fix your issue. Cheers.

Hey, yea i thought of that, am using the aspire recommended adapter for the batteries, but checked and it also reads 1000 mah output, did notice the charging light went blu faster this time around, so will wait and see.

Yeah, stupid Aspire. They don't even know the product they are selling. It states in the specs 480ma charging and supply a 1 amp adapter with the unit.

The bottleneck was def. the wall wart you were using.
You're good to go now. Cheers.

agree, they just recommend stuff without explaining. Might report back if the charging finishes earlier, cheers;

Yeah, stupid Aspire. They don't even know the product they are selling.

We had endless problems in the UK with a complete lack of tech spec with Aspire. People were buying sealed battery units and no mention of lowest resistance, max amp output.
Just all rather amateur really.
(and yet the prices suggest they are something special...)...
Some of what they sell is great. It's just such bad value in the UK.

many of these vape brands are pretty much rookies on the electronics market, yet many act a bit like they were apple. guess it'll take some time to sort out, but tbh names like 'smok' doesn't help;
