Aspire Clapton Vs Kanthal coils (What's the difference?)

Sorry if this seems dumb. I've searched but cant seem to find an answer. All the threads seem to be regarding building your own.

Trying to find out the difference between the Aspire Claptop coils and the Aspire Kanthal coils. Its a bit confusing considering the Clapton coils use Kanthal wire :/

Would I be right in thinking for flavour and cloud production the clapton coils would be better?

Short answer: the Clapton coil has more wire surface area which in turn provides more juice contact and vaporization. Claptons can be made from Kanthal or other wire types; "Clapton" just defines the style of the coil winding.

the clapton is a more complex coil; it's multitrand.

regular coils are just one strand of wire of one gauge.
claptons have more than 1 strand of wire and usually more than one guage.


There is also ribbon wire (flattened wire).

Everything is a trade off. Claptons have more aria in contact with the liquid, but they also gunk up faster.

Sounds like between claptons and kanthals, claptons are the better ones to go for.

I have normal v2 0.5 coils which are good but never had the pleasure of experiencing claptons. Its annoying as they dont go as high as I want on the wattage (70w is what I'm after for my new box mod) where as my atlantis v2 0.3 is rated for 70w-80w so not sure how they would perform between 30w-70w (Im getting the cool fire iv plus to replace the cool fire iv)

Clapton wire is a 24 or 26 gauge wire with a smaller 32 gauge or so wire wrapped around it. These can be kanthal or nickel usually. I would suggest watching a build tutorial on a clapton wire and then you will see what you're using.
