I bought an aspire K1 from a local shop and the draw is a bit too airy. I have to inhale very slow and long to get a decent amount of vapor. I'm using it on an evod and ego battery and my evod and ce4 tanks have a tighter draw and produce more vapor with less work.

Would this have anything to do with the battery not able to run the 1.8 ohm aspire coil efficiently compared to the others which I believe are over 2 ohm's?

Hi Jim,
Does the draw on the K1 improve if you block one of the air holes in the base? A reversible option is to break the tip of a wooden tooth pick off in the hole, blocking it semi-permanently.
What is the PG/VG ratio of the juice you are using?

Cheers
I

It does improve but it restricts airflow a little too much then. I'm using 50/50 juice.

Also, when I use the evod tank as soon as I press the button you can hear crackling but with the Aspire not so much. I have to hold the button down, and when I start to inhale it will slowly start to crackle if you know what I mean.

What if I went to a 2.1 ohm coil?

That's not going to help, not if you stick with the BVC coils. (Which you have to, really... as they fit the K1)

Your problem is more complicated.

The BVC coils have an optimum power range/setting (the watts). Despite what people say (and they will say anything based on personal beliefs rather than logic) you need more than a small eGo battery to reach the optimum power for BVC coils.

One of the top UK vendors (who co-incidentally sold these tanks and coils) was saying "you can use the K1 on a normal battery" and then admitted to using it at 10-12 watts on an iStick.

You are not close enough to 10-12 watts with your battery. It'll be weak and airy.

When mine aren't popping I assume they a tad flooded and blow them out. Happens mostly when new and then when they're older.

DJ's right tho, a variable battery has more uses to enhance vapor and especially flavor.

GL. Oh, and if you want a variable penstyle- maybe avoid the Twist. Lot of reported troubles about them of late.

The one evod battery I have has 3 variable settings but I can't really tell much difference between them. I tend to stay with the lower two settings as I'm pretty sure the highest voltage will kill my battery life.

The Aspires do tend towards needing more voltage. I find EVODs (single coil) can be hard to find a basic battery that goes low enough. The K1 should be pretty good on the highest setting with a fully charged battery, but to deliver that voltage consistently takes a battery that can boost. I wasn't that crazy about my time with the BVCs, but I had the much less good CE5S tank not a K1.

An advantage to the 2.1Ω coil is if you put it on a Spinner and accidently use 4.8V it won't be awful.
