my nautilus mini also shows signs of rust in the exact same spot (1/4 inch inside the drip tip), I have had this thing for 8 days and I'm pretty annoyed. my code worked and every pointer Aspire gives about the packaging being authentic passes, so I think this is a real issue on authentic aspire nautilus minis...certainly shoddy "stainless steel"

stainless steel does rust, just saying

I mean I wasn't expecting it to be pristine for years, but after one weeks stainless steel should not be showing any signs of rust.

wiki says:
"Stainless steel does not readily corrode, rust or stain with water as ordinary steel does. However, it is not fully stain-proof in low-oxygen, high-salinity, or poor air-circulation environments.[2] There are different grades and surface finishes of stainless steel to suit the environment the alloy must endure. Stainless steel is used where both the properties of steel and corrosion resistance are required.

Stainless steel differs from carbon steel by the amount of chromium present. Unprotected carbon steel rusts readily when exposed to air and moisture. This iron oxide film (the rust) is active and accelerates corrosion by forming more iron oxide; and, because of the greater volume of the iron oxide, this tends to flake and fall away. Stainless steels contain sufficient chromium to form a passive film of chromium oxide, which prevents further surface corrosion by blocking oxygen diffusion to the steel surface and blocks corrosion from spreading into the metal's internal structure, and, due to the similar size of the steel and oxide ions, they bond very strongly and remain attached to the surface."

So I have to assume it's unprotected steel or something I guess?

I have an authentic Nautilus Mini I purchased about a month ago from VaporShark. I've used the stock drip tip exclusively with it. I use it daily, although not all day every day. There's almost always some amount of juice in it. I have washed it tap water and air dried a number of times. Overall pretty lousy at keeping it clean though and usually only wash it if I'm going to change flavors. I have zero rusting. Just adding my data point.

Similar situation, I bought a Naut Mini when they first came out some months ago.

Whenever the tank gets cleaned (anytime I switch juices/swap heads) the drip tip also gets cleaned. Absolutely no signs of rust here (I'm looking at it right now).

Guys, forget the drip tip for a second, that can be replaced with another one of your choice. Have any of you taken your whole tank apart and soaked in 100% vodka over night? Do it and see what happens. I stopped using the nautilus a long time ago. The center post was all BLACK after a soaking of vodka over night. Had to scrape it off and still couldn't get all of it off. Also the metal of the inner tube had discoloration. I threw mine out quickly. If you think the glass tanks with metal sleeves made for the nautilus are any different, you would be wrong, same thing. By the way, 1-2 hours of soaking you won't notice a thing. Leave it soaked in vodka over night and see what happens.

Never had this problem any of the kanger mega's. They are made with food grade steel.

Turns out you were right. It ain't stainless steel in that Nautilus tank. It's chromed brass. And fiberglass in their coils. Thanks, but no thanks.
