A bit more information might make this easier to answer. What is your main complaint other than you aren't thrilled with it. A lot of things might depend on that answer for some examples I offer the following, which devise are you using it on mechanical or regulated? If regulated how many volts/watts are you running it at. What is the ohms on the head in the Nautilus, such as 1.5, 1.8, 2.1 ohm? Is the juice mostly VG or PG? All of these things can effect how it might work for you.

I think a major factor is what you have your Nautilus attached to. More information would be helpful. Also, if you are using a VV/VW, have you tried using the replacement 1.8 ohms coil?

I love my Aspire and the only tank system I like equally is my Kanger Pro Tank 2 with the airflow attachment (which does not hold nearly as much liquid).

Ooh I was so excited to get it after reading about it here on ecf. I use it at 3.6 v on a variable battery that goes up to 4.8 v. Not sure about the ohms, it's the one that comes with it.

After just a few drags at 3.6 it started tasting different, like chemical taste, not burnt. I am new to vaping.

That chemical taste is likely the atomizer. I've had plenty of kangers over the last year have a really strange flavor when brand new. I soak all heads in grain alcohol and then rinse and dry. I do a bunch at a time. Haven't had the problem since.

If it's not a burnt flavor, it's likely some sort of chemical used in manufacturing the head.

I clean all my tanks and coils in Vodka! It is the best cleaner that I have found so far. I soak mine for 3 days, then rinse it really really good in warm water, and let it sit out to air dry. Once dry it is like brand new, and they last longer. I get about a month's worth of usage out of one Protank coil. I vape on one coil for a week, then soak it, rinse it, and let it dry. By the end of the week when the other coil needs cleaned, the first coil is ready for round 2 of vaping.

The standard head is 1.6 ohms. 3.6 volts might be a bit high. It also depends on what mod you are using and whether it has pulse modulation or a pure DC signal.

Try dropping the voltage to 3.4.

It could also be you have it to wide open, IE to much airflow. Try closing the air flow down to the next to the smallest hole then opening it to the next to the biggest hole and test. To much airflow will stop the system from drawing in liquid to the head causing it to dry out.

Haven't tried to take it apart yet, grain alcohol yikes!!

Taking the Nautilus apart is very easy. You got half way there when you took the tank off to fill it. The only thing left is to unscrew the coil head from the base and the top part from the glass.

Never used grain alcohol as I don't drink and don't want alcohol in my house. But that's just me. Most other say alcohol, vodka specifically, is the thing to use.

I've tried a few different clearomizers, and nothing comes close to the Aspire Nautilus. The advantages of the Nautilus are:

  • Adjustable air flow
  • Glass tank which prevents a reaction from certain types of eLiquids
  • Large capacity (5ml)
I find the Nautilus provides the best taste and vapor production of any clearomizer I've used. I found a place online that sells them for about $20, so I have five of them filled with different flavors at the moment. I've never had even a hint of a chemical taste when using these tanks. I'm not sure what could be causing it, but I'm guessing it could be attributed to either an impurity left behind from the factory, a faulty atomizer, or the eLiquid itself.
Before using a new tank, i wash it out with hot water and dish washing soap, rinsing it really well, to ensure any impurities that may have been left behind from the manufacturing process are removed. I only see a need for using pure grain alcohol like Everclear, after washing out a used tank, in which I'll put a new flavor. It helps remove the previous flavor to some degree. 195 proof Everclear is not sold in New York, but can be bought in New Jersey. I find 90% isopropyl alcohol to be a good alternatve, as long as its rinsed off well.
I dont dry burn the atomizer. If the problem you're having stems from the atomizer, I would thoroughly wash out the tank, and replace the atomizer with a new one. The box the Nautilus came in will have an extra atomizer, but you'll need more. I replace mine once a week.
If none of the above work, maybe try using a different eLiquid, and significantly reduce the power on the device you're using. Some eLiquids are more susceptible to "frying" than others, and only do well at a very low voltage or wattage setting. I recommend starting very low, then gradually increasing the power every few puffs until you get to an ideal flavor. As soon as you notice a negative note in the flavor, adjust the power back down.
The only other clearomizer I liked was the iClear 30s. I don't think its as good as a Nautilus, but its ok. I use it for tobacco flavored eLiquids.
Good luck.

Hi Peach.
The atomizers can definitely last longer than a week. I've used some on occasion up to almost three weeks. It depends on how much you use them too. I just change mine a lot more often. I probably don't really have to, lol.
Its great to support local vape shops and everything, but $6 is way too much! I'll send you a few links to places online where I bought them for much less. You can get the whole tank for a little over $20 now. They came down in price a lot.
