Hi,

I'm new to vaping and just got the Aspire Premium starter kit with Nautilus Mini tank.

Few questions-
1) What difference does the different air holes make and which one should I use?
2) The battery is multi voltage, again which one should I be using?
3) My tank makes a popping then sizzling noise every time I take a draw.
4) Every draw I take makes me cough violently when I inhale (I've smoked for years so no trouble inhaling normally) am I doing something wrong as the smallest amount of vapour makes me want to cough up a lung!

Hope someone can help me :(

Without knowing what kind of setup you have on your tank and what kind of juice you use it's hard to say where the problem lies. High PG and high nic levels will give stronger throat hits than lower ones. Voltage level and air flow also come into play. Not having a Nautilus, I may not be much help. Perhaps someone who owns one will chime in soon.

Hi Manclad80 welcome to the forum. 1. The air flow is a matter of comfort/taste. Some people enjoy a more airey draw and some like it tighter. 2. The rule of thumb for EVERY vape device you'll ever own is the same. Start low power, take a draw and bump it up to repeat. If it starts to taste funny, gets too hot or tastes burnt, back it down. Different flavors will have different sweet spots so you just have to experiment. When you get the heat/flavor comfortable then I would play with the different air holes. 3. It's common for tanks to make a small popping/sizzling noise. It's the juice being vaporized on the heated coil. 4. There is an adjustment period for vape from cigs. You could also have the nicotine level too high (which is mostly described as harsh).

Good luck in your vape journey.

Welcome to the forum Manclad80!
The airflow is adjustable because different people have different needs/wants. Some like a very 'open' draw with little or no resistance, while some prefer a little 'tighter' draw more like you'd get with a cigarette. It's a matter of preference and you'll have to experiment a bit to find what's right for you.

I'm not familiar with your battery (power supply) but you've said the voltage is adjustable. You might try starting with a voltage toward the lower end of it's range and see if that helps at all. Raise the voltage a little at a time between puffs until it tastes and feels right.
Sounds to me like your voltage might be too high. Try doing the above and let us know if it helps. We'll help you get it worked out. :)

1) On the Nautilus Mini there isn't that much difference between the airflow settings. I always leave mine at the widest-open setting.

2) Depends on the resistance of your coils, but no more than 15W. Probably around 4V is your sweet spot.

3) Some popping/sizzling is normal. If it's violently popping/sizzling, the voltage/wattage may be too high.

4) This is normal to an extent. It's possible that your wattage/nic level is too high, or you're sensitive to a flavoring/PG/VG.. When I first started vaping I found it to be extremely harsh, and still, 2 years in, I occasionally need to take light puffs early in the morning before I can actually get a satisfying lung-full of vapor. What nicotine level are you vaping? What's the PG/VG ratio of your juice?

The air holes are just preference. Wider the air holes the more air you draw in and the bigger the clouds. You receive slightly less flavor, though. On the atomizer of the mini, it will tell you the window of voltage you can vape at, choose out of that. Again, within that window, it's a matter of preference.
