Flawed tobacco Bill Will Cost Lives, Say Experts
US Set to Approve Cigarettes, Ban Healthy Alternatives
April 09, 2009
by James Dunworth

Maybe what is needed now is a viral campaign throughout the world that smokers who are being denied access to an alternative that has been declared safer than tobacco by experts are going to sue their respective Governments. That would hurt them more than lost revenue in tobacco tax.
Ladies & gentlemen, start typing and emailing, from Facebook to Funspace, to local and national newspapers, television, radio and online media, anyone and everyone you can think of. We need to kick up the biggest ****storm imaginable and then some. This is not just about ecigs, it's a threat to our basic human rights in a democratic society to choose a safer option.
I will be compiling a suitable letter/press release to circulate to as many sources as possible. If anyone could assemble a list of links to the expert testimonies that see ecigs as safer than tobacco it would be very helpful to have them all on one page.
Alan.

Thanks for the heads up Jamie.

Fortunately things do look a bit more optimistic in the UK at the moment. I rang ASH UK and they said they weren't discounting the products per se, just that they would rather recommend smokers try the nicotine cessation products that have already been tested until further research has been done on e-cigs. Course, nicotine cessation aids don't work but at least it is a better stance than Cancer America.
