I don't have asthma, but daughter and hubby do. Their pulmonologist said NICOTINE will help open up the lungs, and if he could get his asthma patients who smoke to switch to vaping, he would be happy. It's the 40kabillion other things in cigs that are bad for you, not the nicotine.

I'm not a doctor of course, but my guess would be it's because nicotine acts like a stimulant. Caffeine can help an asthmatic, and if someone gets an attack and doesn't have their rescue inhaler available a cup of strong coffee is recommended.

I have had asthma since i was 2-3 years old. Really bad asthma. I started smoking analogs and nothing really happened but i knew it would soon catch up to me. Never has asthma attacks or such with analogs but in the long run it could be asthma attack heaven.

Now, when i first vaped i had shortness of breath, but i knew it was because it was something new i introduced to my body (took me a few weeks to get used to vaping). Now, i can breath better, run longer, no shortness of breath.

I had severe asthma. So bad that i would wake up having attacks.

I was so surprised and still am that vaping helped me breathe and i don't have the severe attacks any more. I am not cured but i hardly use my inhalers anymore. My Doctor doesn't have to warn me about smoking so she is happy also.

One thing that helped me the most was reading the technique of inhalation. I very seldom inhale but do blow the vapor out of my nose sometimes. Inhalation technique with an e-cigarette

Good luck for your friend, i hope she starts vaping!

the absolute dumbest people in the world are the people that have diseases that target their lungs who continue to smoke. but as a current asthmatic, AND former smoker for 15 years, I no longer need to use advair daily, and only keep an albuterol inhaler around in case of emergency. i also need to subtract that $175 a month advair script into my "how much money i've saved from switching to vaping" figures.

not sure how old OP's friend is, but if they're using a nebulizer three times a day and still smoking, an oxygen tank can't be far behind

When I first started vaping, I had a bad,bad cold. My colds always trigger my asthma. At first, my asthma got so much worse. It seemed like my coughing would actually decrease if I had an analog. It would go crazy if I had an e-cig. Felt like I had an elephant on my chest. This lasted for a good 2-3 weeks. I kept vaping, since it just didn't make sense to me that I felt better with an analog over an e-cig. Now, I have absolutely no cough. It is a joy to get up in the morning. Don't feel like a full tb ward with all that hacking and sneezing and yuck. It may take time to get used to the vaping. Maybe it is just the lungs way of getting the gunk out. I don't know. Can only write about what I experienced. My dr. is happy. I am happy. My family is happy. Good luck!

i got bronchitis between x-mas and new years, it made my asthma go nuts, which was further exacerbated by analogs. got an e-cig to get that nic fix without analogs, and haven't looked back

Get on Tasteyourjuice.com and watch the video called ny vape fest. Enjoy

To be more specific, Phil Busardo - who, if you haven't heard of him, is a well-known figure in the vaping community - went to VapeFest in NYC last week, and spoke with an asthmatic who had taken up vaping. Here's a link to bit of video that's relevant to your interests: Erick on Vaping

I have severe asthma and at the time I started vaping, I was using my inhaler at least twice a day and my nebulozer every four hours per dr. orders. I havent used either item since last October. I have seen a dramatic change in my breathing abilities since I started vaping. My doc is the person that first siggested ecigs to me so I would have your friend check with her doctor. IMO vaping is 100% better than smoking is for an asthmatic :)

I starting using an inhaler for asthma around 14 years old or so, I'm almost 40 now and smoked the last 11 years. That's 25 years on an inhaler, atleast twice a day and mind you using it before I even smoked.
I had my last cig 5/5/2012, the day I got my ecig, I think the last time I used my inhaler was July of 2012. That's 9 months without an inhaler, and I dont even carry one with me anymore.

I used to have asthma. Seems to be all gone now that I've started vaping. I can remember many mornings getting out of bed and coughing so badly I didn't feel like I could catch my breath. And needing to use an inhaler in the morning just to get my lungs opened up to breathe. That all went away within a month or so of vaping. However, Gummi bear and fruit punch vapes seem to trigger the old wheezing and cough symptoms I had prior. As long as I stay away from those two flavors, no issue.
