I don't have asthma, but daughter and hubby do. Their pulmonologist said NICOTINE will help open up the lungs, and if he could get his asthma patients who smoke to switch to vaping, he would be happy. It's the 40kabillion other things in cigs that are bad for you, not the nicotine.
I'm not a doctor of course, but my guess would be it's because nicotine acts like a stimulant. Caffeine can help an asthmatic, and if someone gets an attack and doesn't have their rescue inhaler available a cup of strong coffee is recommended.
