Just curious who vapes and is an asthmatic? Have you found it to be more beneficial to your asthma health? Any pros and cons or advice would be greatly appreciated.

That was amazingly informative and i appreciate your reply heaps. Ive had asthma all my life. Depending on how i treat my body, depends on how severe my asthma wants to be. However, ive found vaping to actually improve my breathing the past 2 weeks, i was just hoping it wasnt beginners luck and .... would eventually catch up to me. The smoke shop variety liquids i cant smoke. I get them from a friend now who makes them. No idea what they put on those shop juices, but they stink of popcorn. Lol. Yuk.Hi Niki,
I had asthma as a child, I sort of "grew out of it" I thought, but a lot of my sx were masked by smoking for several years, which was fine in the beginning, but as things got worse, smoking wise, and I got older, I was catching pneumonia or bronchitis with every cold that came along. I wheezed, had to use two inhalers was frequently on steroids (which I hate) coughing all the time, could not breath, my docs were about to apply the COPD diagnosis.
When I quit smoking it wasn't an instant fix, but I was pretty ill when I got here. Now, I use 0 inhalers, caught a cold recently which just stayed... a cold, no treatment needed, I haven't used an inhaler in months, and I do not wheeze. For me the difference is night and day.
I didn't have serious sx really, even as a child, though I did need an inhaler occasionally. So, for you things may be slightly different, but I will say overall vaping just improved EVERTHING in my respiratory system. I can take a full breath again, etc.
If you have more serious asthma, you may want to pay attention to your flavoring, as some juices may cause sensitivities (I am actually sensitive to inhaled PG though most flavors are fine.... I just use max VG), and etc. Some asthmatics start out not inhaling into their lungs, but holding vape in their mouth, then exhaling through the nose. Plenty of nic absorption that way. I'd consult your doctor if you have any worries, but overall I have found vaping vastly preferable to smoking with my (mild) case of asthma and my (severe) case of walking right up to that COPD line. I do have a small area of lung damage and scarring in my lungs, and the tiniest area of wheeze that remains in one lung. I think that may be permanent damage from smoking-- I'm supposed to go get a lung exray from the same machine that I did all my other lung x-rays so my doc can check if it's increasing (he is naturally cautious). I am ashamed to admit I haven't done it yet-- I really don't feel like my breathing is worsening, but it is on my agenda to do, soon.
Best of luck, my experience was that vaping has been a huge improvement. I'd still say talk to your doc if you have concerns.

Interesting read. Glad she gave them the flick. Lol. I was in hospital 3 weeks ago for 6 days diagnosed with flu B. Doctor basically told me..if i dont give up smoking, asthma will kill me before i hit 40. That scared me..terribly. so i wont ever go near them again. My wife has had bad asthma her whole life, when she smoked it got progressively worse, she's been smoke free for about 1/2 a year now and the only puffer she has is the simple blue one and went from using it daily to not having used it in the last 4+ months, she used to be on the turbohaler or something like that with steroids, the orange one and the blue one. She also used to have to go to the hospital for infections about 4 times a year and hasn't gone once since she quit.
Max VG would make her wheeze but a 60/40 mix was fine, I'm allergic to PG so I use max vg.
She went from smoking to vaping and then transitioned to stage 3 of the patch which seems to work for her.
Love the positivity and support on this webpage. You are sll so encouraging. Thank youThat's great Niki. If you continue vaping, might want to check out the DIY juice section, you may enjoy making your own juices. I'm so happy to hear about your health gains. I'm pretty sure that they will continue, and I'm glad vaping is working for you!

I have had asthma since I was a child and smoked off and on (mostly on) for 25 - 30 years. I haven't had to use my inhaler, or come down with an upper respiratory infection, since I started vaping 2+ years ago. I can ride my bike faster and farther, and for the first time in my life I can jog for more than 1/4 mile without gasping for air. I did have issues (heavy/tight chest) when I vaped some 80 vg juice but once I went back down to 70 vg all was good again.Just curious who vapes and is an asthmatic? A reminder, too, that menthol is a general no-no for asthmatics.

Thanks for your reply. Also asthmatic here. This may be a quirk as an asthmatic, might just be something generally noticed, but vaping seems to accelerate the symptoms of quitting smoking. Expect nasty stuff and quick if you smoked a long time. Whenever I had some success with non-vaping quit methods it would be a solid month before I really started to cough up nasties, etc., with vaping it kicked in by week 1.
Also, please do ensure your doctor is at least aware that you are vaping. They may not approve or they might be thrilled, just don't know til you say something, bit at least ensure they're aware in case something does aggravate things.
