At least...my vape has come along.

So...I've spent tons of money looking for a good setup (that works for me) and I think I found it.

I've tried the t3s on a spinner and it was ok. ALWAYS different results.

Then I tried the Nautilus BDC (while awaiting my aerotank from eBay) on the spinner and it was better, but hard to find a consistent vape. Blown open at around 4.3v was alright, but not good enough.

Then I tried the Nautilus on the Vamo V5 and was able to enjoy most of my e-liquids. It was nice to be able to open the draw or tighten it, depending on the flavor. AND I was getting decent clouds, but I didn't like the huge tank (I know there's a mini, but I'd already bought the biggun).

Finally, though, my Aerotank v1 came in. I. Am. In. VAPER'S. HEAVEN! Good flavor, good draw, good clouds, and even better: that fulfilling feeling in my lungs! Plus, with the smaller tank, I get to indulge my e-juice add workout having to waste a ton of juice.

Now to buy more of them. Hahaha!

If you like the Aero Tank then i would suggest that you get in to re-building your coils if you don't already. It is a vast improvement on stock coils in my opinion. I have an emow mega and I am now putting vertical coils in it and my other protanks as everyone was saying how good the aspire BVC (bottom vertical coil) is.

The vertical coil builds in my tanks are amazing. Here is a post on how I do it if you are interested

Agree the fun is in the learning and experimenting with different things to find your perfect vape

Eh.

I have an Aerotank that is currently collecting dust. It is primarily the fault of the heads (I was sold a 5-pack of the wrong type of heads for the Aerotank), but the fact that the heads were in a package labelled "Aerotank" implied there would be no problem. Kanger is kind of a trash company, and most of their products are based on products that came before theirs.

The new "Aerotank Turbo" is one of the dumbest things I've ever seen in my life.

Also, and this is sort of secondary to the topic, why would you rebuild a Kanger head? Like.. Why? People are saying "wow flavor and vapor production is so much better" but man, it seems like an awful finicky thing to do for not a lot of reward. You're much better off going to an RTA situation (Kayfun or otherwise) and making that "step up" to having a rebuildable device (that was actually meant to be built on..)

Idk, that's just my 2 cents, y'all come back now.

So, what are the benefits of vertical coils vs. bottom coils?

What improvements have you seen with stock coils vs coils you've built?

I have found that stock coils can be a bit hit and miss with quality control, getting dry hits (burnt taste), flooding, gurgling, only lasting a few days before crapping out. I also find that silica leaves a bit of a nasty taste in my mouth, this might just be me though. When I re-build my coils I wick with japanese cotton which I have personally found to be very good in soaking up the juice and giving a clean taste.

As for vertical coils, well I use a EMOW Mega which has a great airflow control ring on the bottom probably the same as your Aero Tank. So with the vertical coil the air is drawn up through the coil instead of trying to go over a horizontal coil. I run my emow on the eLeaf iStick mod which is over powered compared to other mods in how it calculates the whole volts/watts thing (I won't go in to it here but it is well documented in the main iStick thread) but saying that on my iStick with a vertical coil I try to build around 1.2 - 1.3 ohm coil and I can up the wattage to about 13 watts without any burnt taste (dry hits) that I would get with a horizontal coil and the flavour and cloud production is really good.

These are only my personal opinions and what suits me may not suit someone else.

I see your point about RTA like the Kayfun and agree they are true rebuildable attys and very good.

For me I like the conveniance of my emow on my istick which looks good, nice and small and I don't have to waste juice if i need to change the coil or rebuild/wick it unlike a kayfun.

Like you I was disappointed with the stock coils letting me down, so for the cost of a few £ I got my Kanthal, got my cotton and re-build them. Yes they are small and fiddly to do but the vape is better and I can now knock up a horizontol coil in about 2 minutes and a vertical in 5 so I don't find it a hardship to do.

Yeah, I mean if it works, that's great, and quite honestly I'm a bit impressed with how people are so quick to rebuild coils for their Protanks and stuff. It's waaay too tiny and fiddly for me to deal with, I get all shaky just working with regular-sized coils.

That said, its got me thinking about trying to rebuild my Aerotank. It bums me out when I have a piece of gear that's just collecting dust. At this point, my Aerotank is one of the only things sitting around doing nothing, everything else finds its way in my rotation at some point or another.

I have found that part of the fun is trying these things.

All I can suggest is give it a go, build a coil for it and see how much better your vape will be, especially if you go down the vertical coil route and give that old Aerotank a new lease of life :toast:
