Hey all,

Me and my wife switched to mods a year ago and we have been happily vaping since, her on a silver bullet and me on a 3.7 saber touch. We prefer dual coil tanks since there are little hassles once the tank is full and the carto is primed, and we have been using SmokTech cartos (1.5 ohm). I haven't really felt a dud yet, we go through about three cartos a week. She is much more sensitive than I am and she tastes a strong metallic aftertaste from two out of three cartos, after they are fully primed and sit for a half hour. I don't know what to do to fix this! We buy our cartos from a known distributor, litecig, which is listed on SmokTech's site as an authorized retailer. I know a lot of these things in circulation are fakes so I went to the manufacturer's website to find out who is actually allowed to sell them here in the states.

I am on ikenvape's email list and will keep crossing my fingers in hopes of them updating their supply, but does anyone else have any ideas?

P.S. She calls any wick-based carto "the tentacles of death" because of the strong chemical taste that surfaces when the tank is running low on juice. I do burn off the PG that these wick cartos usually are shipped with before filling them, and I have tried all kinds of CE2 tanks. I personally don't mind the vivi nova and I usually smoke the SMoK TiTaN, and with the latter I do certainly taste the chemicals when at around 1/3 reserve left. Between the chemical aftertaste of CE2 type cartos and the metallic taste of dual coil cartos I truly wonder if what we are smoking is any better than analogs!

I've never had any luck with cartos and will occasionally get a burnt taste with wick style systems.

If you don't find a solution for your carto problem go to wicks and don't let the tank get low, always carry spares to switch when it gets low.

When it starts to get low I will always tilt the tank to make sure the wicks are wet and also vape it horizontally or tip down when it gets real low.

Good luck.

I vape 100vg all the time so I used to get that "metallic or gross" taste after a couple tank fulls with boges and dc. I noticed that when this would happen if you look at the 510 connection on the carto it would be all black and filled with gunk. Boiling sometimes saved the cartomizers but not always.

About a month ago I switched to Ikenvape platinum and 801 fusions. The 510 connection on a platinum is different than standard boges and the 801 is entirely different. I now get about 30mls or more through a carto before that nasty/muted/metal taste starts. I like the 801 fusions because I can put a finger over the connection and prime the carto every once in a while and the tanks also stand up when not in use.

Get some plats/fusion when they restock, they really are stellar.

Edit- what's wrong with saying g-0-0k?

Are you sure it's not a component in the liquid(s) she is tasting and might not have to do with the hardware? Is this something she experiences with all her liquids?

You might be on to something...we went through 5 brand new cartos and I did not even think it was the juice! Hmm.. I will need to research this idea.

DVDV - I just bought non-platinum, as that is all they had right now. I also bought the adapter and some 801 cartos. I hope they come soon!

What are RBAs?

your gonna vape like twice as much, while sayiing ooohhh mmyyyy gooood even with the low end ones(and it gets better) RBA Rebuildable atomizer some say the purest form of tank vaping, i have a small early knockoff and love it. check out youtube tons of vids on them and how to rebuild. look at DiscountVapers for resonably priced ones.

You could also try single coil Smoketech carto's. Honestly, I think it's the best out there. I'm still to receive a dud, and only had one with an off taste in about 30 of them. I usually get the 2.5 or 3ohm cartos and punch them myself. The dual coils are no better than the 1.7 ohm single coils. Some even believe that one of the dual coils can become dry, and give the metallic or burnt taste, if the carto is running under half full, due to the fact that they are stacked vertically above each other.

Good luck!
