At my wits end with tanks, back to dripping on an atty. Device recommendation.

I've tried the tanks, the DCT, the chibi, the vision stone II, they all give me either dry hits or or burnt taste or leak like a sieve.

Has anyone had success with a tank system? I really don't want to go back to condom filling and spinning carto's and tasting filler along with my juice.

Can anyone recommend a descent tank system--or anything, for my VV Apollo or all you back to dripping?

I've been successfully using my J-Tank for about a week now, absolutely no leaking at all with a Boge carto, probably because this tank is known to be a very tight fit compared to others (I gotta lube up the carto with juice to have any chance of pushing it through the holes initially, otherwise it might damage the rings and cause leaks).

As for my success with juices, well 100% VG is a bit difficult, as it requires a lot more heavy dry-pulls to get the liquid into the carto when the hits start to become dry (using two holes). But a dry pull every now and then is a lot easier than filling a carto drip by drip and Taryn spinning then the cleanup/blow-out afterward.

However I filled my tank last night with some Malibu from Halo, not sure of the PG/VG ratio, but its fairly thin and with two holes in the carto I hardly ever had to dry pull to get liquid in the carto (and when I did need to dry pull, it sucked into the carto and gave me bubbles with one only or two relatively hard-ish pulls vs heavily pulling 6-7 times with 100% VG to get bubbles).

Even with 2 holes and some pretty thin juice, I haven't had any problems with flooding or gurgling with my Malibu. So the tank is working out great for me. Not sure how different the J-Tank is compared to the other ones you mentioned, but it may be worth a try as its one of the cheaper tanks out there ($20). Its got one heck of a grip though, as once you get it installed and let juice in the o-rings settler for a few hours, those seals make for a seriously tight fit! I can screw on a tank to my battery while holding the tube and the tank doesn't even spin once I start to crank down hard on the tightening. From what I read, other tanks out there spin if you try to do this.

And dry-pulling is a must for tanks, originally I wasn't having much success with my tank until I learned about that valuable technique! If I want a really wet hit, just suck in a few times, watch for bubbles, and I am golden!

Rob, I've been an atty dripper almost since I started vaping... at least since I've had my provari for the last year. I started using the DCTank with the 1.5ohm dc carto's about 1.5 months ago and I've had great success--no burnt taste, leaking, etc.

The biggest problem I've seen with this tank system is that user does not prep the carto properly on the initial use and therefore gets a burnt taste. You must soak the filler with 20-25 drops with initial use... if you do this the DCTank will work great, at least in my experience. I'm using a 50/50 juice and the pre-punched carto's wick fine.

Here's a link to a video showing this process: Filling a SMOKTech Dual Coil Tank - YouTube

p.s. If you cannot use dc carto's with the apollo, you can get pre-punched single coil carto's that are made for the DCTank at Crystal Clear Vaping for a great price: 15 for $25.50:http://www.crystalclearvaping.com/1...plated-for-all-the-DCT-tanks-I-sell_p_94.html

I have been using the $10 tank from Madvapes for 6 months without a single drip or leak or cracked tank (MANY drops to the floor too) Been working fine with my DIY 80/20 mixes. I have only had a couple times when it flooded, and don't think I have ever had a burnt taste from it. A little dry occasionally yes, but never burnt.

I'm using the Madvapes carto tanks. I burnt a few cartos before I figured out I needed to prefill them. I put about 50 drops in the carto then put it in the tank and fill. Then some hits w/o pushing the button 'til no more bubbles come out of the hole.

I too had some issues, even with prefilling the cart and letting it sit, I'd get 30-50 good draws out of it then dry. I finally invested in a saddle valve, started double punching them and that made a great improvement, but I'd still end up having to top off pretty regularly. Then I realized that the fluid level in my tank wasn't dropping, so I took a sewing needle and teased the filler through the holes and bam, the juice level started dropping as expected. Now, I "clear" the holes about twice a day and haven't had a problem since.

I was getting ready to go back to analogs, got tired of all the fiddling, until I tried the vision ego stardust / vision clearomizer / whatever else they call them. This is an awesome product, I'm only on my second fill, but this thing is rocking, great vapor, no carto taste, no fiddle, no leaks, simply awesome!!

EgO transparent Clear-o-mizer
(out of stock at the moment)
This is where I purchased mine, and I know a few different vendors sell them, names can be slightly different

Don't give up!! :)

I got 2 words for you.... Bottom feeder!!
I never have a leak, dry hit, or refilling issues again! Carto or atty dies, I take one off put a new one on, squirt the bottle until I hear the juice, and vape again. No mess, no leaking, no wicking issues, and no needles.

I will never got back to PITA tanks again!!

Have you considered adjusting the way you work with tanks? Maybe you're overlooking some user error. The only thing a tank does is hold liquid. As long as it doesn't leak, I don't see how it can be responsible for dry hits or burnt taste.

All of them seem to have problems with wicking. The CE2's always have issues with the wick entering the cup and not drawing fluid to the coil.

Carto tank systems don't seem to dray juice into the carto fast enough to maintain flavor, i AM a chain vapor so granted that might be a factor.

I also prefill the carto's, the tanks run out of juice, but like I said it doesn't seem to keep the carto saturated enough to deliver consistent TH and flavor.

I've had given up on tanks too until i found the egos vision tanks. With that said however my husband has no problems at all with his DCT's. vaping is a very personal thing and what works for one will definitely not work for everyone. I think that if you "chain vape" with a regular tank it just doesn't keep up with you IMO. I'm sure'll find what set up works best for you :)

I use the tanks from madvapes - they're cheap and don't leak. I have had problems with them feeding on their pre-punched carts, but I found blowing gently into the carto while in the tank, that bubbles would float up - so I suspect that the single hole wasn't enough. Also, the newer pre-punched carts from madvapes have 3 holes now, so I suspect that many people had problems with feeding. I have a newer tank from them with the 1.6 dual-coil 3-punched carto, and it's vaped like a champ - every draw, I see a little trail of bubbles go up, and that's how it should be. :vapor:

My favorite tank is my Lava Tank, but those are impossible to get.

Do yourself a favor, and order a Mom and Pop Vapor Shop Submarine tank, or the Sub Mini.

They are all of $12, and they really work great! Before giving up on tanks, I'd suggest trying out one of these.

However, as others have said, all a tank does is hold juice!

If the carto isn't getting enough juice to it, because you're chain vaping, perhaps punch another hole in it? You'll need a carto punch for that, however.

I've been vaping for two years, and after trying dripping, cartos, bottom feeders (by the way... don't fly with a bottom feeder, or you're find your shirt pocket drenched with juice due to the cabin pressure! Found that out the hard way...) I'm now using tanks almost exclusively. I occasionally drip, when at home, and wanting to change flavors, but 90% of the time, I'm using either the M & P mini tank or my Lava Tank.

Good luck!

Not for nothing but I'm also done with Carto tanks, the juice in all of mine seems to get tainted from the un-vaporized juice in the carto bleeding back into the tank, then it makes the juice taste differently after about half the tank is done. Now Atty tanks are a bit different and I love these but no more Carto Tanks for this guy just my personal preference, but from here on in its only Atty Tanks, bottom feeders, top feeders, and good old dripping for me.

I use a notcigs M1A1, have used it daily for a half year. Good seals, there's a side fill/locking screw port, no tank slipping. Use the 1" for standard length cartos.

I use the 1" tank all the time, since my carto of choice is the ikenvape fusion 2.5 ohms. I've also had good luck with boge and kanger cartos, just get them in stainless steel.

I used dremel until just recently. I came up with a cheap, consistent carto punch, pretty inexpensive, using a hub and sheet metal screw. It looks a lot like the ones COV carries, just that it is a hex head screw rather than a sharpened thumbscrew. Pop two holes in the carto, maybe three for a really thick liquid.

Priming a carto can be really important, particularly for longer ones. I just soak the top of mine when I do the first fill, give it a couple minutes, then do one inhale without firing the PV to pull a little extra eliquid in from the tank.

Good luck!
