apparently if you look around, it says that the 'stay' has been lifted and the fda can regulate shipments, i think, i dont completely understand

3/2/2010

A U.S. Court of Appeals ruling reinstates the FDA's authority -- at least temporarily -- to stop e-cigarettes from entering the country after a lower court ruled that the agency does not have the authority to regulate electronic cigarettes, even though Congress granted the agency the power to regulate tobacco products in 2009.

I think if this was a fact, it would be all over the news, this forum and the internet. The Anti's would be all over it and rubbing everyones nose in it.

The only possible reason I could see for a raid was if SE was able to get China supplies into the country without going through customs. Then they would be in a world of hurt.

I would just keep your eyes open and wait and see. Too many damaging rumors start with little birdies, and the damage can never be undone with a "oops, sorry".

This makes sense.

Why "raid" SE when they can just confiscate it at customs.

well. i'm telling you all that it happened many people witnessed it, including a close friend who WAS employed at their headquarters in sunrise fl, went by there today and saw the empty building...the organization was ATF. and really? you think that the government is incapable of snuffing spreading word about things they do? THIS HAPPENED. dont exactly know WHY it happened, but ATF closed down SE.

This makes sense.

it sounds like they would raid them because they had something they shouldn't have had. maybe

Raid is a funny word, did they use door breakers and riot shields ? Or was it a few guys in suits with some cops eating donuts handing out legal paperwork ?

'Raid' makes it sound like it was a .... lab or something.

Edit: Actually I wouldn't put it past them to make a big show of it... *mumble* *big tobacco influence* *grumble*

From what I've read about SE it's probably a good thing, if it's even true. Just because of their business practices. Charging people monthly without their knowledge, overcharging for a piece of crap, selling a piece of crap and promoting it on tv giving better e-cigs a bad name, etc.. etc... But I am curious as to the real reason why it happened.
