Atlantis Cartomizer Recoiling - Vertical or Horizontal?

So I've been watching videos of people wrapping their own coils for their Atlantis cartomizers, and I was wondering if anyone else here has experience with recoiling this or other similar cartomizers and could help me find the optimal build.

So far I've tried a horizontal micro coil and a spaced one, and I like the performance of the spaced coil better. In both cases I've left two pieces of the "ceramic wicking material" that originally covered all 4 holes covering the two holes with the metal behind them.

This is the micro coil I built, it worked fine but not as well as the horizontal spaced coil.

Thus far I've been trying to hit as close to .56 ohms (the resistance of the stock coils out of the box) as possible, using 24 gauge.

Anyone have any experience with any of this? Should I wick the horizontal or vertical coil a certain way? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Before you're leaving in shreds of the fiberglass/ceramic fibers, I'd urge you to go through this thread and decide if that seems like it's the way you want to go:

In terms of optimal builds, here's two links I stole from Susan with variations:

vertical: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H6ZBh4X8wQo
horizontal: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4HFLD6iBUEc

A lot is going to depend on how you're running it (VG ratio, flavorings, wattage), but people seem pretty happy with horizontals if you get the wicking amount right.
