Just got an atlantis clone in my vape mail. Wicked and fired. Pretty impressive. Then I got a burning sensation in my lungs, which resulted in me location a rebuild how to and rewicking the coil. All I have is organic cotton balls, not the Japanese cotton the person who did the write up was using. Anyone familiar with the Atlantis coil is familiar with the outer wicking layer that hugs the coil body. My understanding is the "harmful" portion of the coil, is the ceramic that wraps the actual coil. Seeing how difficult it was to get the outer layer out and back in, using the correct kind of material as shown in the video, I opted to just leave it in being a new coil. Can I assume this eliminates the potential for issues with these coils? or should I aquire the correct kind of cotton and replace all existing wicking material?

Thanks

For mine, I left the original material that is covering all 4 juice holes, removed the coil, discarded the silica/ceramic material around the coil, and rewicked using japanese organic cotton. I don't think cotton balls will work for this as you need to wrap the coil instead of sliding cotton through it.

Here is a tutorial

After I rewicked the coil with japanese organic cotton (remember, leave the original material around the 4 juice holes) it tasted soooo much better. Almost as good as any of the subtanks. Its definitely worth doing if all you have is an Atlantis.

What if you did run cotton through the center of the coil? It wont wick enough? In that case eliminate the outer layer of wicking material? Just ideas, it's a great tank and making it as easy as possible to re-wick is a plus to me.
I could be mistaken (I don't own an Atlantis) but I believe the air flows thru the center of the vertical coil. Running cotton thru the center would most likely result in less airflow thru the head (at least that's the way I understand how they work).

For the extra cost you'll probably be better off to just put in a new coil when needed.
A u tube video doesn't show you all of the downside potential.

You didn't mention resistance, do you have a way to check it?
If not don't even try to rebuild anything.

Yeah, I've got a couple ways to test the rebuild.

To get you by for now, you could rebuild it horizontally. Your cotton would work for that.

Good idea, thanks
