How do you check the ohms on atomizer? I am totally new to this..My atomizer is kind of dead and I want to check the current flowing before throwing it away. it is kind of dumb question, can i just connect it to the battery and put the probes on atomizer or remove the battery. where do I put the probes on the atomizer?

Just do a simple continuity check. Most any multimeter will have a setting for this and will emit a beep or other sound if there is continuity. Then touch one probe to the threaded part of the atomizer connection and touch the other probe to the center connector (the one with the hole in it). If you do not hear a beep, the atomizer has a broken wire inside. An ohms reading can be made using the ohms setting of a multimeter.

If the atomizer has continuity, it is good. Also, 3.3 ohms sounds about right. That just confirms that it is wired correctly and there are no wire breaks.

If it will not heat up, chances are the center (positive) post is not making contact with the power source. Dirt could be another factor. What type of device are we talking about?

I think that's a good call. A small piece of silicon rubber (?) surrounding the centre connection provides a little bit of springiness but obviously weras out over time. No simple fix for this.

If this insulating gasket goes bad, why couldn't the battery terminal simply be reset in a dot of silicon caulk?
