If you have a Digital Multimeter, you can test the atomizer. Using the Ohm's setting at 200, turn the atomizer upside down on a table. Touch one lead to the center of the atomizer and the other lead to the threads. If you get a reading less than .5, the atomizer is shorted out and should be discarded. If you get a reading close to the ohm rating of the atomizer, then it's just not making good contact with the battery. You might be able to fix that by slightly and gently prying up the center post on the battery with something small like a jewelers screwdriver.

Sometimes atomizers last for months, others may die within a week, and you may get an occassional doa. I average around a month of use before they need to be tossed for one reason or another. A multimeter is the best way to see if it's really dead or not. If you don't have one all you can really do is assume it's a goner if it won't work. I always keep a good supply on hand so when one does go south on me I'm not left in a bind.
