Hey Jason, welcome to the ECF.

Attys are part of a 3 piece e-cig. Atomizer + cart (filler) + battery = 3pc

Cartomizer - is the cart (filler) with an atty built in. Its a disposable cart/atty combo. Typically seen in the kr808-D models, or other 2pc models

I've been using the kr808 model since day one... 2yrs ago. The advantage of the cartomizers is that its disposable and everytime you pop on a new carto, you get a fresh atty. You can refill the carto's several times.

Atomizers (atty's) need to be cleaned and maintained.

Others can give you more info, but thats it in a nutshell. Sorry if my advice isnt that technical.

There are lots of threads dealing with this topic. Just do a Google ECF search and you'll pull up plenty.

I use both. I drip with atomizers and use cartomizers when dripping isn't convenient, like when I'm driving.

I second this use both laening more on cartos again tired of dripping leaking yata, yata cartos i like these days that performe well are boge,801 fusions, dualcoil these 3 have got me back to cartos.

Carts should last a long time before they need to be replaced. All you need to do is buy juice to refill them. There are very few brick and mortar stores for vaping, but you're in luck because you're in Ohio. I'm not sure how far away from Barberton you are, but VaporBomb is there and they sell some mighty tasty juice for a great price!

Oh an I have been vaping since Wednesday and am on my third cart already. I am a VERY heavy smoker. I will put a patch on and still smoke more than 3 packs during the day. So when I vape, I am vaping for a long time. Keep in mind I drive a truck, nothing to do but smoke, smoke, smoke. And since I am an independent (own authority) and go to the places I go (east coast) and, for other personal reasons, I am under an immense amount of stress. Smoking is my relief, sort of.

I am gonna check out cartomizers. Actually that was the purpose of this thread. I don't usually have very good luck with forum searches so I figured I would just ask.

So you can actually pull out the packing and re-pack an atomizer and it will continue to work? I have been changing it when it does not produce any more vapors. Even after re-filling it with more juice.

I wish I could get better flavor from my cartos, I've tried the regular 510 boge variety as well as some XL c4 syringe types... and the flavor is always dry and hollow compared to using a cartridge on an atomizer. One theory I had, was that some of my juices are VG heavy - and I think the cartos might not wick VG well... so in my last order I got some 80/20 PG/VG hoping that will help. Does anyone else know why this happens and tastes like hot air instead of vapor?
I'm also trying to figure out a good solution for traveling, driving and carrying a unit in my pocket - i need juice to last awhile and it can't leak all over the place... I'm struggling with both those issues right now.

I use KR808 cartomizers. The benefits I have found is there are many ways to refill them quickly. I usually fill up a few for the next day and vape vape vape (see YouTube for the manys smple ways). Just don't throw them away obviously (I didn't know better at first and tossed about 15 of them). I use them for a while until the filler gets nasty, then take the filler out carefully and clean them. I then use them for direct dripping for another several days (dripping isn't a good idea while truckin' but while your in your rack you could always drip!).

I am relatively new to vaping and have only used the Kr808's. I am sure all others are good too but I like my 808s... I was a 1-2 pack a day smoker for 14 years and I have totally quit analogs! Since the first day for meI have been a Vaper! Like you said Ecigs are AMAZING!

Keep up the good work! 4 packs is hard to quit I am sure. I was a hheavy smoker while driving too. Now a heavy vaper lol.

Be safe driver!

Oh, one more thing, I am about out of cartriges and will not recieve new ones in time before I go back out on road (truck driver). Is there any place I can buy them in person? I really don't want to go back to 4 packs.
While a bit of a trip from Ohio, seems that ecig supplies are finally coming to the smoke shops in NYC. I chat ocasionally with the owner at 4 corners smoke shop on 2nd Ave and according to him Ego kits, juice and cartos are coming this summer. Yay!

Jason,

Take a look at larger tanks and colossal sized cartomizers. You can run them on a pass-through to your truck's D/C plugs, or get yourself a nice battery mod to hold it. For time sake, simply browse this page and ask questions about the units as you go. I personally like the Giantomizers, but there are many options depending on the draw type you prefer (long/slow/tight or short/quick/easy).

As a pro driver I think you might enjoy something like a Darwin Mod. http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/nhaler/151096-darwin-evolv.html

The Darwin is basically two cell-phone/laptop type batteries in comfortable to hold aluminum, ceramic coated box. It is also variable power, which means you can use any atomizer or cartomizer you want with it, and turn the heat up or down at will with the turn of a simple dial.

The Darwin also has the battery charger built right in (plug a mini USB cord in the end), so you never have to open or fiddle with it to swap batteries. Darwin is rated at over 11000mah, which means with most atomizer/cartomizers, it should last you pretty much ALL DAY if not more. It fully recharges very quickly. Can crank out from 3v up to 12v, and deal with currents up to 3 amps. The battery is rated for thousands of charge cycles and should last a good 2 years or more! When driving, you could use a car D/C to 5v USB converter (found at most PV/e-cig shops) and use the unit like a regulated pass-through. It does come with a 110 A/C wall charger. You can also use a straight USB to Mini USB cord to charge it from a computer.

The Darwin has a swinging arm which acts somewhat like a goose-neck, so it can be more comfortable to hold in either hand, let you choose which finger to push the button with, and vary the 'height' that you'd like to hold it when vaping....all very nice when on the road.

Darwin comes with a 2 year transferable warranty on the mod itself, and 1 year on the batteries.

...

Another option you might like are bottom feeders like the REO Grand.
These will still require separate batteries and chargers, but may well be worth the trouble.

Jason,
Here is something you might like on a budget if you don't mind having a wire to it:

1. An Inexpensive USB pass-through (might want to get a spare while you're at it).
Smok Tech 5 Volt 510 Manual USB Passthrough

2. Power Suppy for the truck if you don't already have one. This is just an example...try to find one up to 3 amps if you can for the dual coil cartos.
2 amp Car to USB Adapter

3. SmokTech Dual Coil Cartomizers (they come in several sizes now days).
Two Ohm or higher if you can't find a power source that can handle up to 3 amps. At 5v, 2 Ohms should be a pretty sweet spot.

You might like the 1.5 Ohm ones at 5v, they'll be hotter, but note you'll need a really nice pass-through and power source that can handle up to 3 amps for the 1.5 Ohm ones.
