Fairly new user with a 2 day old reo mini, using Boge 2.0 cartos. Thinking about getting an atomizer just to try but there are so many to choose from. There's different name brands (Cisco, Joye, etc) and types (510, 306, 901). Being newbie would like some opinions, others experiences, on what I should or should not consider. And what kind of drip tip - regular, long, XL?

Atty's work fine , on the Reo's BUT IMO , carto's are the way to go , hardly ever flood , just squeeze , and a few non-powered draws , and vape . Kinda , the no hassle way to go . JMO . But you can try some LR atty's . Clouds of Vapor has ( when their in stock ) a hybrid atty , made specifically for bottom feeders . I would go with the 2.0 ohm .

Welcome new REOnaut!!!

First, a cartomizer is easier to use than an atomizer. A 510 is easier to use than a 306. Neither 901's or 801's will work without an adapter, and improper use of an adapter can short your REO out. If you are wanting to try atomizers, my favorite all-around atty for flavor with most juice and ease of use is the Cisco 2 ohm 510 from avidvaper.com

Thanks for the responses. I do like cartos. I was just thinking that I could use an atomizer for 'taste testing' new juices so that I wasn't wasting a carto if I didn't like the juice. And I'll be only getting 1 atomizer to try, in case I don't like the atomizer. Since the Cisco 510 is made for bottom feeders, I will be getting 1 of those.

As for batteries, right now I'm using the protected AW Li-on 14500 as I couldn't find the AW IMR.

the only atomizers you can use without an adapter is the 510 and 306. the reo and majority of mods have whats called a "native 510" connection (where you screw you cartos and atties in)

510s are easier for the new user...but i personally jumped right into the 306s as they produce the most vapor and have the most similar type draw to an actual cigarette...it will take a little practicr though in learning how to not flood it.

IMO, id go with the Ciscos at Avid Vaper : Electronic Cigarettes, E-Liquid and Accessories or Ikenvape (but theyre always sold out) only because they dont come with primer...which can be a pain in the ... for a new user.

Generally, the lower the number resistance in ohms, the warmer the vape and the more vapor, but might be at loss of some flavor. 1.5ohm = hottest, 2.0+ohm cooler. they say 1.5s for tobaccos, and 2.0s for the fruity, flavored stuff. id suggest going with 1.8ohm as its in the middle. i like my vapor, so i go with 1.5s.

if you decide on the 306s, youtube how to "dewick" the atomizer. its a common practice for 306s...not everyone does it, but the majority do.

hope this helps

I have NEVER heard of a "good" PV being shorted out by an adapter. It is nothing more than an extension with a different threading. The 801 atty/carto has some definite advantages over the 510.

I think with a little research you could find that "GOOD" PV's can and are shorted out on occasion by a defective adapter. Adapters can have their own problems and that can transfer to any PV.

It is a matter of personal preference. Everyone chooses their atty based on the heat they want and also the flavor they are wanting. Vapor is determined also by the quantity of VG/PG in your juice. VG is known to give off more vapor. Juice flavors can be muted or enhanced by different atty's.
Wish there was a solid, right answer, but it is all about what you want, and what you call the best!

so when using a reo what is the best atty flavor and vapor wise

In that case maybe you should read more. You said it yourself....that threading if matches badly can cause a short between the connector & atty.

I use adapters all the time from several suppliers on my Darwin and 5 volt box mod and have never had one shorted out. No one at our vape meets have ever stated they had a problem, either.

It sounds like it might be more of a problem with the Reo which makes me wonder why? An adapter is just a "connector" that works just like the one built into the PV. There is no reason why it should "short-out" a PV as it's just a piece of metal with threads just like the connector on the PV.

actually it is not just a reo that has shorted. there are other juice fed mods that i know of that this has happened to. not all adapters are built well. you'd think it should be simple and just a connector but nope. some of them are crap. perhaps they crush the connector. like attys, sometimes you get a bad one cuz we all know how great the quality control is on these guys(not) you can have one that has perfect dimensions and the next one in the same batch is thicker or threads differently. same thing with adapter unfortunately. buying a quality adapter lessens the chances i suppose....

Oh my goodness - I'm learning all kinds of stuff. I'll not try an adapter any time soon to be on the safe side. Maybe I'll get a 306 along with a Cisco 510. Thanks for info about dewicking & the ohms. I didn't know that.
