Hi, I know I'm new but I'd be really interested too. I would like the electronic cigarette to become more common and more available.

To be honest even after 29 years as a smoker. A few days after getting my new e-ciggie I know that I won't smoke a "real" cigarette unless I run out of batteries, cartridges or atomisers.

I'm still surprised at just how great this way of smoking is! It all sounded too good to be true and then it seems that it is all true. All the good bits of smoking but none of the bad. It's even a fraction of the cost.

My only worry is that once it becomes more well known and more people convert that the government will want it's share. I think that they will add a fortune in taxes to the cost of cartridges and e-liquid. If you think about how much tax we paid on analogue ciggies compared to how much they cost to produce, you'll get an idea of how much they might try to make in tax. I think it's something like 400% in taxes on a packet of tobacco ciggies.

Do you think that it won't be too long before one of the big tobacco companies jumps on the bandwagon? Maybe they're waiting for someone else to put their necks out and pay for research? But to be honest I wouldn't be surprised if we found out that they knew about the pros and cons or e-smoking years ago. I would think that one or more of them probably paid for research when the first e-fags started to sell in China.

But consider me on board as a guinea pig. :)

Welcome to the forum Marvel.

You need to go to your control panel and apply for membership of the UK social group.

Hopefully esmoking is safer and healthier than cigs but unfortunately we have no proof of that. One of the things we might be able to do is become part of clinical trials to get some evidence and help encourage others to get off cigs if it's safer.

My greatest worry is not taxes, I don't think they'll be as bad as cig taxes, I worry more about purity of eliquid and safety regarding formulation. We don't know if we're being sold tainted juice at the moment because there is no regulation or checks. The only juice that we know has been double checked for toxic ingredients is Wicked.

Tobacco companies might not get onboard but the pharmaceutical companies will likely be interested if they can make esmoking a nicotine replacement therapy. I don't think that would be a bad thing, it would make it a lot safer.

Yepp, that link gets me to the page but there is no mention there of the UK forum.

I can only see the UK forum if I go through my user cp - tried to join it today but no luck so far.........

and Yes, I may be interested in the testing - spoke to the local health care trust "no smoking" organiser yesterday & suggested it but the reception was a bit luke warm........

I'll have more to say about that when I can get into the UK forum..

Cheers
Barry
