i think a more simple fix would be to make a simple wire connection to a battery box use what you like in the box including regulators and resistors. lol a mod of two mods lol. one of course is the protoge and the second is a battery box mod.

another more simple approach is a double barreled PV side by side battery's.

the problem with those 1/2 rechargeable batts ... they are all of 300mAh each. Inline, they are still only 300mAh although voltage goes up. Try to regulate that down to 5v, you are likely looking at about 200mAh -- Roughly the same length of time you would get from a Chinese PV batt ... :(

LOL! Think I'll wait for the new Prodigy.

Or maybe the nifty sounding device to turn the Protege into a 5v passthrough. Got those about ready yet Steve? ;-)

Yea I noticed that also.. I am sure you have been down all of these lanes already huh? Probably looked at about a thousand combinations of batteries and switches. Those two items pretty much design the rest of the device for you.

I think you nailed it with the Protege Steve. It's small, puts out the vapor and looks GREAT!!!
