We've all tasted that horrible first few puffs off a new atty. I just bought a new one from Halo as a backup..and sure enough...that machine oil smell is in there. So I got to wondering how I could get that out without burning it out or puffing a bunch of juice.
I recently started getting that "old" taste from an atty...pull off my cart and sure enough, the wick is a dark brown..time for cleaning. So I thought I would try the polident method. I got an old shot glass, dropped in a baking soda flavored denture tablet and let the good times roll. Well the next morning, after a good rinse in scalding water and blowing it out...no smell, bright white wick!
I'm letting it air dry right now.
So that got me to thinking,
if I can get weeks of crud out of an old atty with denture tablets...why not condition a new atty the same way?? I've got the little sucker soaking right now...tonight I'll rinse it out and use a blow dryer to speed up the process. Results will be posted.
