Attys get hot - but no vapor

How can attys get hot but not produce vapor?

I washed some VX2/J118, M201, 510, and 901 attys on Wednesday.
(Boiled them for about a minute, drained, used some peroxide, drained, rinsed with HOT water, blew out and drained. Let sit to dry until today)
Primed all with a couple drops before checking them out & used topped off cart on all.
Results:
2 - M201's came out fine
1 - 510 - fine (thank God, it's my only one!)
1 - 901 - gets hot but no vapor
8 - J118 - Couple died (expected) a few are fine, a couple get hot but no vapor.

A few of them work, as in they get hot, but won't make any vapor.
I'm perplexed because I've killed a couple attys, they just went cold. I haven't had any get hot but not make any vapor.

If they get hot and produce no vapor they are not wicking. The juice is not getting through to the coil, the mesh could be clogged. Just a thought.

this is a handy trick: after you wash your atmoizers, put them in a bowl of dry, pre-cooked rice and let them sit overnight. Then add about 3 drops of eliquid to the bridge and let it sit for a few minutes, should be good to go.

The only time ive seen this happen is when 1) it still has water in it - final rinse in alcohol instead of water helps here, clean your battery contact point with alcohol, dry in rice 2) the coil or wick is clogged, try the burn off technique where you let it heat up for 5 seconds at a time until you see the red-hot coil, then use liquid as needed

The ones that get hot but produce no vapor are probably not completely dry. Any water left in there will temporarily kill vapor production, until it boils off. I've found it can take an hour or more of steady vaping to clear out all the water, but eventually your attys should come back to life.

I flood them with about 5 drops or so of juice with no battery attached, then let them sit a while battery connector end down, then blow out the excess. This usually clears them up fairly quickly.

Sounds like there's water still in them to me. I usually roll up a paper towel into a tub, put in into the open end of the atomizer and prop it up. This allow for drainage and the paper towel draws out the water. Overnight is best, but I usually find after a few hours it's dry enough that the remaining water will dry up after a few minutes of use.

When I know I've got a dry atty, i'll drop 3 drops down the side, avoiding the heating element, and then take a puff. If no vapor, 3 drops down the side, take a puff. On a totally dry 801 it will take 9 drops before any vapor starts, and that will be thin. 3 more drops and that's what I vape. I'm not sure what the mesh of a 901 will hold, but you may not have it primed yet.

Yep, I get calls on this all the time. Usually water is the culprit. If you don't have a reason to walk with Dr. Bob, (many folks do, just being PC) using vodka as a final wash and letting it dry overnight should cure the problem in the future. Several folks have already mentioned a few drops of liquid on the atomizer coil as a primer will help too.

Thanks for the help everyone. I put more liquid in all the attys and let them sit, blew them out and all of the J118's came back with one really weak one but its working decently on a pass through. The 901 is trying - like the little engine that could LOL at least I get a little wisp of vapor occasionally.
I didn't think they could still be wet after 2 days drying, but I guess they were. Since it was my first time "doing a wash" I didn't know what to expect.
Glad I posted and didn't just toss them in the dead baggie.

It's a reference for AA members, I have some clients who can't use drinking alcohol for obvious reasons and one set me straight once after I was trying to help them with a "dead" atty.

Well. I'll have to get some vodka in the house then. The Captain and I are pretty good friends, but I don't see anyone inviting him to the atty cleaning parties. LOL

Hi this is my first time on the forum and I dont really know if i'm doing it right maybe someone will tell me anyway my problem is with the 84 super mini it makes a very loud hissing noise when I suck on the mouth piece and there is no throat hit and hardly any vapour compared to the mini it is rubbish has anyone else had this problem or is it just me

According to your photo, I do not think she use the same type as yours.

The type of E-Cig in the photo, you can unscrew the atomizer, place in a clean handkerchief or similar cloth, blow 1st from one side then to the other side. (don't burst a vein in your head!)

Mostly this will do the trick.
