Yes VK and below that 1.5 B Pics are hard to see but it's there. I really believe it's Lacquer now that I've scraped 20 of them so far.

You really don't need to do all that scraping to clean it off. Use one of these and you're done in a few minutes

Comes in fine and coarse grit; makes short work of any coating on the atty

Hey Para,
That's a good idea but if what I believe is that they are dipped in lacquer before assembly then they are coated on the inside as well.

I just tried scraping the inside on an unused one w/ an xacto, there didn't seem to be a coating so far, just seemed like metal. On the outside a coating comes off in flakes right as you scrape, for sure. See if it's the same w/ yours, curious...

I can still remember the taste of that stuff, bleh.

Then taking it off the outside won't make any difference at all.

I agree that's why I've been boiling them in water to melt hopefully as much as possible. Then in the ultrasonic for 15 minutes. Then scrape. I will definitely use you're method for the outside from now on though!!

In reality I would love to know what brands don't have this on them. Someone said Ikenvapes but I haven't tried them.

Bristow, Ok.
I have those VK attys. I put one in when I first got my UFS. I have never cleaned it. It is working as good as the first day. I did have it out today and looked it over and saw no peeling. I have been a fanatic about shining but I never felt the urge to clean my atty. I think at this rate my 10 attys should last a few years.

Hi,
Did you take a razor blade to it by any chance?
When did you purchase your attys?
How many hours do you vape your UFS a day wood you say.?

Thanks,

Chris

I got these over 2 months ago. I don't see any reason to scrape them. My tank is very clean, My juice stays clean. It is in my mouth nearly all the time like a pacifier. I don't see a reason to clean and boil my atty. It is still going strong, Before my GG feeding systems I felt very lucky to use an atty over a week. My cartomizers were lasting me a week in my AVS. I don't think my atty is dirty. It is enclosed and only opened to add new fresh juice.

Just curious what you would find if you did scrape them Stormy. All of mine looked good until I examined further.

We are looking into this issue. Stormy- If you bought your atomizers two months ago then they would be from the same production run as the recent purchases. I order them 10,000 pcs at a time and have only ordered one batch so far.

I'll post more when I find out.

Hi SSROB,

Thanks for looking into it. I purchased mine about a month ago if that helps at all.

From Rob at VK:

"OK. Joye says there is a protective coating on them to protect the bare metal from scratches/etc. We were not aware of this. It is not applied to the inside of the tube.

I have spec'd the next batch of stainless atomizers (regular, LR, bulk regular and bulk LR) to -not- be coated.

They could not tell me exactly what it is other than "clear paint".

If it bothers you I'd suggest you to remove it with the methods you've described in the GG forum until the new batch comes in.

Thanks
Rob"

I just took the VK atty out of my UFS that I kept refilling for a month and the atty still looks exactly the same and nothing was coming off. The juice never tasted funny either, it was actually very very tasty.

I think the trick is to just not clean them. Looks like they stay cleaner with no cleaning. Using an atty for a month or more is outstanding in my opinion. I am past 2 months on my first one. I think the heat of the atty keeps away anything from growing in there.
